Warning! Spoilers ahead for X-Men #10!Cyclopsis one of if not the best leaders theX-Menhave to offer, but Scott Summers just pulled the ultimate strategic move right out of the villains' own playbook. And in the process, makes it very clear the US Government has it coming.
InX-Men#10 – written by Jed MacKay, with art by Netho Diaz – After the X-Men save Beast from Greymalkin prison, task force ONE conducts a raid on the Alaskan X-Men base, but Cyclops tells their leader the X-Men have deployed the Hellions. While the Hellions team wipes out multiple sentinel facilities,Cyclops reveals his tactics are based on the Government’s own policy, with the instantly iconic “the villainy you teach me, I will execute.”

Cyclops corners ONE by telling them every minute they stay, his team will destroy more government property, showing he’s ready for war.
Scott is Playing the Ultimate Power Move on His Enemies
While Cyclops was once Professor Xavier’s most loyal student,Scott Summers has long departed from his former mentor’s dream of human-mutant coexistence, adopting a more radical mentality akin to Magneto’s.Afterthe Fall of Krakoa, Cyclops has been rebuilding the X-Menwhile trying to avoid Professor X’s mistakes, meaning he’s been taking a more militant approach to ensuring mutants are safe. Cyclops is notoriously stubborn when it comes to defending what he believes in, sometimes using radical solutions and presenting himself in a more villainous light, but this time, Cyclops may just be justified in taking a more extreme path.
Cyclops is painted as an antagonist in several storylines, such as “Messiah War” and“Avengers VS X-Men” crossoverevents where he showed he was willing to kill for his ideals and fought the Avengers over the fate of Hope Summers. But consequently, Cyclops has been molded into the perfect balance between Xavier and Magneto by being both tactful and intimidating towards his and the X-Men’s enemies. In the current “From the Ashes” run, the government used a private entity tounjustly imprison and brutalize Beast, one of Cyclops’ closest companions, and he was valid in rescuing Beast.

Cyclops' X-Men Successfully Outplay the Villains, But May Have Provoked an All-Out War
Cyclops Shows He’s Willing To Do Whatever It Takes for Mutantkind
Cyclops may have been hostile when enacting attacks on government facilities, but in arresting Beast without cause, ONE shows they’re willing to play just as dirty to provoke the X-Men. While Cyclops gives justified reasoning for his actions, his bold attack will potentially start a war with the US Government, triggering yet another endeavor that would target mutants.Despite ONE’s threats of war, Cyclops shows he is far from afraid, giving a chilling threat that he could drop the Juggernaut from orbit or unleash the Phoenix on Earth should they kill him.
Cyclops Has Officially Become the New Magneto, But X-Men Insists That Doesn’t Mean What You Assume it Does
Cyclops has endured plenty of unfair accusations over the years, but one trait proves he is the X-Men’s new Magneto…and that’s not a bad thing.
Scott Summers is absolutely terrifying yet clever in this moment. He says they will keep destroying government property until they back off, ensuring maximum damage and pushing them to immediately retreat without the Hellions taking any human lives. Undoubtedly, Cyclops is shaping into a more menacing hero, teetering the line between Xavier and Magneto, but Scott has still managed to maintain his tactful methods and superior leadership abilities.Cyclopsuses the villains' schemes against them in the most skillful way possible, but this moment may also lead theX-Meninto another war.
