In this issue, despite Prodigy’s advice not to go after her leads,Ms. Marvel is convincedthat the new mutant terrorist is drawing her out specifically and winds up in a losing fight with the Krakoan. Even though he put his X-Men days behind him, Prodigy decides Ms. Marvel is right to stand up for mutants, and helps her.

When he arrives, he’s psychically attacked by the Stepford Cuckoos, who think they can wipe him out easily, buthe defends himself with the red triangle protocol.

This Shared Superpower Once Saved the X-Men from Banishment from Earth
The last time theX-Menused the red triangle protocol was during the second mutant massacre in Krakoa. Orchis attacked during the third annual Hellfire Gala and threatened to kill one human for every mutant left on Earth. With no other choice, Charles Xavier took control of all the mutants at the gala and forced them to leave through the island’s gateways, which Orchis had hacked to send all the mutants that walked through to the white-hot room. A group of X-Men were able tosave themselves using the red triangle protocolfor this very reason.
The red triangle protocol was the sole reason that several X-Men survived the massacre on Krakoa, after all.

The X-Men lead the Marvel Universe in telepathic power thanks topsychic mutants such as Jean Grey, Emma Frost, and Charles Xavier. Professor Xavier took extra care to make sure each one of his students knew the red triangle protocol with the fear that one day his ultra powerful mind would become compromised. Thered triangle protocol was designed as a warning system and a form of attackagainst any phychic attack and is now one of the X-Men’s most useful tools. As Prodigy puts it, hiding among the humans is just living in fear.

When David Alleyne steps back into his role as Prodigy, everything comes back to him. He’s attacked by the Stepford Cuckoos, and remembers how they used to skip class and missed the lesson on the red triangle protocol, so he’s easily able to resist their psychic attack. He then goes onto single-handedly defeat the Krakoan. As Prodigy says, “Mutant culture isn’t Krakoa. Mutant culture is the X-Men.” Even without their own land, they will always beX-Men.
