A new dominant deck is emerging in thePokémon Trading Card Game. The Raging Bolt ex deck is beginning its long-awaited ascent into the upper levels ofPokémon TCGplay. The deck’s biggest strength is its relative straight-forwardness with a focus on making big attacks with its powerhouse Pokémon, Raging Bolt ex. Raging Bolt ex is one of the most used decks in recent tournaments, and is now picking up some impressive wins. Raging Bolt ex is not only a deck to beat in the current metagame, but also could stay that way until the meta dramatically shifts.

The deck focuses on two signature Pokémon - avaluableTemporal Forcescard, Raging Bolt ex, and Teal Mask Ogerpon ex. Raging Bolt ex’s signature move, Bellowing Thunder, deals 70 damage for each Energy Card discarded from any of a player’s Pokémon. The key is that Raging Bolt ex doesn’t need to lose energy itself to use its signature move. So, players can attach energy to Teal Mask Ogerpon ex using the card’s Teal Mask ability to charge up Raging Bolt ex’s attack.Raging Bolt ex is essentially the cannon for this deck, with Teal Mask Ogerpon ex providing the ammunition.

Interestingly, all of Raging Bolt ex’s recent finishes have come against decks it had a neutral match-up against.Raging Bolt ex has an advantage over Regidrago ex,but has a disadvantage against Charizard ex decks. What Makes This Pokémon Deck So Unbeatable

Raging Bolt ex Hits Hard & Fast, Making It Tough To Beat

The deck’s primary goal is to attack for large damage every single turn, targeting the opponent’s two-prize Pokémon, andit’s one of the few decks in the meta that can score a major knockout during Turn 1. While it has to discard Energy with every use of Bellowing Thunder, the use of Professor Sada’s Vitality pulls that energy out of the discard and back onto anyAncient Pokémon. Other cards like Boss’s Orders and Pokémon Catcher help pull the right Pokémon into play for Raging Bolt to attack.

Raging Bolt ex is a strong deck because it can consistently hit hard and doesn’t require a lot of fiddling. There are decision points with every turn, but players can still win even if they make the wrong move. The deck’s biggest weakness isit matches poorly against decks with lots of one-prize Pokémon. The deck has limited ways to pull Energy back in and stalls out when it can’t snatch up prizes. But even after therelease ofSurging Sparks, the game’s next set, Raging Bolt ex should keep seeing success in the currentPokémon Trading Card Gamemeta as long as there are two prize Pokémon to attack.
