Well over a year after its release,Hogwarts Legacyfans have been left baffled by a certain outfit – one that might not actually exist. Although exploring the wizarding world, and the castle in particular, in such great detail is certainly a highlight of the game, there’s also an incredible sense of immersion thanks toHogwarts Legacy’s well-realized setting of 1890.Part of the fun is discovering many of the game’s outfits, from school robes themed aftereach Hogwarts house, to more conventional period clothing.
Hogwarts Legacyhas its share of RPG leanings, and goes above and beyond a lot of other games in the sheer number of equippable items that can be found and used. The game lets players outfit their student with facewear, headwear, neckwear, cloaks, robes, handwear, and even full, prearranged outfits. All the loot inHogwarts Legacyis randomized, however, meaning players aren’t guaranteed to discover many of the rarer pieces of equipment. One such piece, a coat, has players stumped, becauseit might not technically exist.
Hogwarts Legacy Players Aren’t Sure The Traveller’s Coat Exists
It Could Be Cut Content Or Extremely Rare
Despite the unfathomable number of collective gameplay hours players have put into the game, there still remain somemysteries inHogwarts Legacy. One involving a piece of gear is a particularly odd case, since it’s not really something in-game that has stumped players. Reddit uservrucipekmezshared a screenshot of an onlineHogwarts Legacywiki page (Fextralife, to be precise) showing an item called the “Traveller’s Coat Male,” which curiously doesn’t have a female counterpart. The odd part, though, is thatplayers in the thread have never seen the coat.
There seem to be two possible explanations provided by the post’s comments.First is the possibility that the Traveller’s Coat is especially rare– potentially one of the game’s rarest. It’s certainly possible that the game’s randomized loot, combined with the Traveller’s Coat’s potential rarity, has made it so everyone who’s viewed the post has also never come across the item, but it seems like an occurrence with astronomical odds. There are a finite number of items inHogwarts Legacy, and even among the small fraction of players that have seen this particular Reddit post, all those items have likely been encounted.
The Traveller’s Cloak Is Likely Hogwarts Legacy Cut Content
A Wiki Page Exists Because Of Datamining
The more likely explanation is that the Traveller’s Cloak doesn’t actually exist in-game, and has a wiki page resulting from datamining. Datamining is a common practice, especially with sprawling games likeHogwarts Legacy, where files are pulled from the game client. It’s especially helpful for those who run wiki sites, as they’re often a leading source on what items are in particular games, and what each item’s individual stats and attributes are.
It’s unfortunate that the Traveller’s Coat likely doesn’t actually exist inHogwarts Legacy, as it’s a pretty slick look. It would be perfectly suited to the game’s Fall and Winter seasons with its fur lining. If it does exist in the game, it is probably exceedingly rare, potentially more so than intended, if this is the result of an unknown bug. Regardless, it’s an interesting conundrum that’s popped up so far afterHogwarts Legacy’s launch, and it’s unlikely to have a definitive answer unless a developer catches wind of it and clarifies.
