AMarvel Rivalsplayer has discovered thatthe “Avoid Teammate” list unfortunately has a limit, making players more selective with their choices. Since launching last December, the game has quickly amassed a player base of over 480k on Steam alone, becoming a staple for many in the hero shooter genre. With beloved Marvel characters becoming playable and allowing people a new insight into the universe, this fun entry has been completely dominating.
With so much love and attention for the game, there are a lot of conflicting thoughts about someMarvel Rivalsfeatures, withone player taking to Redditto question the limit on avoiding teammates. As they argue"I don’t want to group with literal throwers, ever", it does seem unfortunate that this feature must have a limit, forcing players to potentially meet the same players again for frustrating games. While players can avoid 3 people, the list will become full after the fact, which can be difficult after playing for an entire day and encountering multiple poor teammates. The reasoning behind this limit, though, does appear to make sense according to the comments.

Marvel Rivals Fan Discovers A Limit To The Avoid Teammate List
Players Can’t Avoid Everyone
AsSirDerageTheSecondquestions in their Reddit post"Why is this a thing, why is there a limit?",many flock to explain why the avoid teammate feature needs to be capped to avoid breaking the game. With one player jokingly commenting"Because otherwise you will avoid the entire server 😂",it’s clear that competitive games of these kinds need to remain open to all.As people may encounter different skill levels of players or those less familiar with the game, it’s important to allow people to get better without avoiding them forever.
The Fantastic Four Are Making Their Way To Marvel Rivals, And Today We Got Our First Look At What’s To Come In Season 1
Marvel Rivals is expanding its roster soon with the addition of characters from the Fantastic Four. Here’s what to know about the upcoming season.
While it’s an unfortunate necessity for this feature to stay in place,it could still be expanded akin toOverwatch 2’s avoid teammate rework, something that proves thetwo games can take a lot from one another while still both thriving. Allowing players to avoid up to 10 players at the same time with a priority in their rankings, people can enjoy more of their experiences without completely breaking the game either. IfMarvel Rivalsconsidered something similar, it would take on player feedback while still making the game playable.

Our Take: This Is Actually A Good Feature In Marvel Rivals
Unlimited Avoiding of Teammates Would Break The Game
While it may seem frustrating not to be able to avoid all the terrible players out there afterhaving them throw games, there’s actually a good reason this feature can’t be unlimited. If players were to avoid every possible player out there, matchmaking would be much slower and longer, making it harder to get into games. Not only that, but competitive matches could lose their integrity entirely, opening up the potential for abuse as people avoid all higher-ranked players for easier games.
With features likehero bans for higher-ranked playersalready in play, the possibility for people to take advantage of avoiding hundreds of teammates would make competitive downright unfair.Keeping that in mind, this feature being limited is much more of a positive than it may seem. Though players might have to play again with people they just didn’t gel with, it’s a much better outcome thanMarvel Rivalsfalling into a broken state entirely.
