Trent Clark Accidentally Killed Ambassador Chen During A Heated Argument

Chen & Clark Were Arguing About Trent Supplying Kai-Ming With Drugs

Surprisingly, given the circumstances behind most other deaths inBlack Dovesseason 1, Ambassador Chen’s death wasn’t a calculated plan. Rather, his death was an accident during a heated moment with a frightened young man. When Helen and Sam are finally able to view the footage from the recording device that had been set up in the ambassador’s home, they see that it was Trent Clark who killed Chen. However,Trent didn’t intend to kill him – they were arguing, and when Trent pushed Chen over a couch, the ambassador fatally hit his head on a table.

It turns out that Trent Clark was in love with the ambassador’s daughter, Kai-Ming Chen, and supplied her with drugs because he knew she wanted them and he had the connections to procure them. Trent wasn’t just one of Kai-Ming’s friends;he was the son of Alex Clark (Tracey Ullman), the leader of the Clark crime familywith extremely powerful connections and influence – from drug dealers to politicians to assassins. As theNetflix action thriller showreveals, Trent then decided that he needed to cover up his tracks on his own, which led to the Clarks receiving help to falsify Chen’s death report. But, it didn’t stop there.Trent also had to make sure that anyone who knew about him killing Chen would stay quiet. While some figures were already deep in the pockets of the Clark family, others involved in the ordeal, such as Jason, Maggie, and Phillip, would have to be taken care of in other ways.

Phillip Bray’s Questioning Led Trent To Take Out Him & The Others Who Knew About The Footage

Shortly after Ambassador Chen died, Trent had to clean up his mess by taking out those who could expose his crime. That included Jason, Maggie, and Phillip, who had access to the footage and were working together to potentially release the footage, implicate the Clarks in Chen’s murder, and expose the officials who helped cover it up. To avoid getting caught, Trent hired Elmore Fitch to kill Jason, Maggie, and Phillip.

InBlack Doves’ ending, Mrs. Reed finally explains how exactly Jason, Maggie, and Phillip obtained the footage and were discovered. It turns out that Maggie, one of Kai-Ming’s friends, was watching the Chen family and giving their secrets to the British tabloids as well as MI5.Maggie set up a recording device in the Chen home to capture these moments, and when she saw the murder footage, she turned to Jason, another friend working with MI5, for help. However, since she sold many secrets to the tabloids, Phillip also had access to the footage, which led him to dig deeper.

When Phillip started asking questions about the ambassador to politicians like Wallace Webb and Stephen Yarrick, the latter informed the Clarks of his snooping. Trent then began to follow Phillip to see what he knew, which is how he found out that Maggie and Jason were also aware of the truth. So,seeing that they were getting closer to exposing the truth, Trent ordered hits on all three, and even tried to kill Helen after spotting her meeting with Jason, but she got the upper hand on her would-be assassin.

Why Stephen Yarrick Helped Cover Up Ambassador Chen’s Death

Stephen Yarrick Was Corrupt & Working With The Clark Family

The video footage in theBritish spy thriller showalso exposes that not only was government official Stephen Yarrick complicit in covering up, but the Prime Minister as well. When Trent called Alex to help “clean up” Ambassador Chen’s death at his home, his mother recruited Stephen Yarrick to help. On the video,Stephen is seen tampering with Chen’s body to make it look like he died of an accidental drug overdose, and explains that he’ll have to call the Prime Minister and inform him about what happened.

This conspiracy and the lengths that the Clarks went to cover it up resulted in numerous deaths and ruined lives in Black Doves.

Shockingly, both Stephen Yarrick and the Prime Minister were in the pockets of the Clarks. They were seemingly being paid a substantial fee or had been threatened into working with the Clarks and helping to cover up their crimes. However, Alex eventually had Stephen killed in order to send a message to Helen about keeping quiet and to warn her to stop digging around. Tragically, this conspiracy and the lengths that the Clarks went to cover it up resulted in numerous deaths and ruined lives inBlack Doves.
