Warning: Contains SPOILERS for House of the Dragon’s season 2 finale.

Summary

Aemond Targaryen and Vhagar destroy Sharp Point inHouse of the Dragonseason 2’s finale, and it isn’t just a random location. Aemond and Vhagar were forced to flee from thedragons of Team Blackin the penultimate episode, with even the biggest dragon in Westeros unable to take on so many at once. Neither took kindly to having to back down from the challenge, however, which led to them taking out their frustrations on Sharp Point, the seat of House Bar Emmon.

Aemond and Vhagar will likely only cause more devastation following on fromHouse of the Dragonseason 2’s ending, which saw King Aegon II Targaryen leave King’s Landing behind, and Alicent Hightower prepare to open the gates for Rhaenyra Targaryen to take control. That leaves Aemond as the biggest opposition for Rhaenyra, and more places could be on the receiving end of his and Vhagar’s fury inHouse of the Dragonseason 3, but what the show doesn’t address is why the location mattered in the first place.

Sharp Point Is Located In The Crownlands

The Castle Is Relatively Close To Dragonstone

Sharp Point is located on the mainland, found within the crownlands, one of theSeven Kingdoms of Westeros. However, it is at the very far reach of it, located to the south of Dragonstone and Driftmark, and sits on the edge of the all-important Gullet (the stretch of water that the Velaryon fleet has blockaded).

House of the Dragonseason 3 has been confirmed by HBO.

Founded by Togarion Bar Emmon during the Andal Invasion - several thousand years beforeHouse of the Dragon’s timeline- it was later brought under control of the stormlands, and then the crownlands following Aegon’s Conquest, asHouse Bar Emmon was loyal to House Targaryen and Dragonstone. The first was inHouse of the Dragonseason 1’s ending, when the Bar Emmons were mentioned as being among the Blacks'“nearest allies,“and then season 2, episode 6 revealed the Lord wanted his nephew to sail with the Velaryon fleet.

Later in theDance of the Dragons, as perFire & Blood, Lord Bar Emmon does actually suggest it may be time for the Blacks to bend the knee to King Aegon II. This comes after a major defeat at the Battle of the Honeywine, in which the tide was turned by Daeron Targaryen and his dragon, Tessarion. Aemond burning Sharp Point could even connect to that, showing Bar Emmon knows all too well the destructive power of dragons inHouse of the Dragon.
