How Batista, Harry & Harrison Could Factor Into The Sequel Show

Warning! Spoilers ahead for Dexter: New Blood’s ending.

New Bloodwas, in many ways, quite a departure from the originalDexter, taking place in a snowy setting and featuring mostly new characters. Batista does return as part of theDexter: New Bloodcast, but he ultimately plays a very minor role. Remar, on the other hand, after serving as Dexter’s guide throughout the original series, wasn’t present inNew Bloodat all, with Jennifer Carpenter’s Debra Morgan instead coming to occupy this role.

The return of both Batista and Harry suggests thatDexter: Resurrectioncould end up feeling closer to the original series thanNew Blooddid.Dexter:New Bloodendswith Batista having learned the truth about Dexter, so whatever role he does play in the sequel show could be an antagonistic one. As Harry has been dead for quite some time in the world of the show, it seems logical that Remar will be returning to play Dexter’s inner guide once more.

Dexter Resurrection: 12 Original & Revival Characters Who Can Return In The Sequel

Dexter Resurrection will either pick up exactly where New Blood left off or nostalgically lean into the original show with several character returns.

As for Alcott, Harrison comes to play an important role inNew Blood. Dealing with his father’s same murderous instincts,Harrison is eventually the one who shoots and seemingly kills Dexter, and the show’s final moments seemed to set up a solo adventure for the character. The return of both Batista and Harry suggestsResurrectionwill be very Dexter-focused, but Harrison’s actions in the finale could point to a tense relationship between father and son moving forward.

Batista’s Return Can Fix A New Blood Mistake

Many questions remain aboutDexter: Resurrection, but the show is shaping up to be something of a cross between the original show andNew Blood. Even thoughNew Bloodwas generally well-received, the ending, like theDexterseason 8 finale, was divisive.

New Bloodhas a 77% critics' score and 73% audience score onRotten Tomatoes.

Batista felt relatively underutilized in the limited series, andResurrectionnow has the opportunity to correct this, making him a more crucial part of the narrative as he realizes that Dexter survived his gunshot wound. Of course, with Batista potentially on Dexter’s trail once more, that puts a large target on his back, which could lead to some shocking moments inDexter: Resurrection.
