Today’s Connections Category Hints
NOVEMBER 16 #524
This puzzle has a few interesting choices and words that do not go where you think they probably should. My main issue when solving this puzzle was trying tofigure out what alternative meanings certain words might have, but someone more familiar with the terms in the puzzle might have a much easier time. Either way, to help you out and get you closer to victory, here are a few clues for your perusal:
12 Letter Boxed Strategies To Win Quickly
The Letter Boxed game for the New York Times mobile app asks you to connect letters to form words while using various strategies to win quickly.
If you are still unsure, you cancheck out the following category namesto help you get going again.

GO ___
PLUG
SEAL
This one is a bit tricky depending on how close you are paying attention. If you already suspect that “hats” might be a category, then you might have dismissed CAP or put it in another category. There is also a loose association of military terms like CAP, SEAL, and BERET that could make you lose a few guesses there.COVER and PLUG are your best bets for getting the right category first, at which point CAP and SEAL are the only ones left that make sense.
PILLBOX
SNAPBACK
As stated CAP might throw you off here, especially because PILLBOX does not seem like it is a hat at first glance. I had the other three words all selected, mainly after I noticed BERET and SNAPBACK and eventually found out that DERBY could be a type of hat. ButPILLBOX was more of a gamblewith a sneaking suspicion that it likely went here despite appearances. I debated a lot of other potential candidates but eventually settled on this and luckily my guess was correct.
10 Best Connections Tips, Tricks, & Strategies
Four categories with four words each sounds simple, but the daily challenge of the Connections game can prove difficult without a few tips to help.
VOLUNTEER
WOLVERINE
This, like most sports categories, could have been my undoing. However, once I got to this point, I had a lot fewer words and I did actuallyrecognize a few of these as football teams. It helps that while I don’t personally watch it, the entire rest of my family does. I tried to figure out the last one, even had BANANAS selected for a moment although I really don’t know why. I felt foolish for missing the one I did but, while tragic, at least I still solved the puzzle.
FIGURE
ROGUE
Go BANANAS will never leave my head now that it’s come back to haunt me, but I suppose that’s what I get for not realizing what the category was right away. I will never forget it again. The rest of them are all a little more lighthearted and funny to me but I’m not sure if I can forgiveConnectionsfor putting that chant back in my head. Regardless, at least I wasable to finish the puzzle without going ROGUE, and I will now be going off to listen to literally anything else to get that out of my head.
