The Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbiesopens up new career possibilities if you have a Sim who wants to be their own boss, and maybe the boss of others, since you can now open small businesses. Some jobs that can become a small business aren’t new with theBusinesses and Hobbiespack, such as running a bakery, which has been possible since theGet to Workpack was released. However, the new small business system makes it much easier to run a successful bakery on your own compared to theGet to Workversion.

While you’re able to find everything you need to run a bakery using just thebase game andBusinesses and Hobbiespack, you’ll find additional items that help with your venture in bothGet to Workand theHome Chef Hustlepacks. Of course, items aren’t the only requirement for a successful bakery. You also need to raise your baking skills and consider hiring employees who have decent baking skills as well.

How To Open a Bakery (Everything Needed)

Start With A Venue And Go From There

Like any othersmall business inThe Sims 4, you need to start with a location from which you can run your business. Of course, you can run it out of your Sim’s house, which might be the cheapest option, and I like not having to travel to different lots repeatedly, but you can also choose to purchase another lot to use for your business. If you purchase a new lot for your business, then you can do so by opening your phone menu, going into the business section, and purchasing a small business venue.

This takes you to the worlds menu, where you may choose which location you want to use for your new business. The nice part about buying a new venue is that you canregister your business when you make the purchase. However, you need to ensure that the lot can be used for a business, which limits you to private lots, small business lots, and community lots.

Registering Your Business Is Easy As Pie

Next, you need to register your business if you want to run one. You can do this during the purchase of a venue, or you can use your phone to register it at any time. All you need to do is open your phone, go to the business menu again, and choose the option toregister a small business for 750 Simoleons.

You can boost your bakery’s income by getting creative with what you offer. You could double it as a bookstore or café to appeal to more customers, or you could offer a place for Sims to play music or do stand-up.

When you register your business, you get to pick its name, business activities, entry price if you use a ticket kiosk, and your desired clientele. For a bakery, you need topick “Bake,” “Make Treats,” “Browse and buy items,” and “Eat” as activities. You can pick up to five activities, so choose whatever you want for the last one here. I also like to choose “Clean,” as Sims tend to be happier in environments that aren’t messy, and a bakery can get messy quickly.

Purchase Necessary Items Like A Fridge

You can do a lot to customize your bakery, but there are a few items that you must have to run one. Naturally, you need objects like afridge, oven, sink, counters, and a display casefor selling your baked goods. You could use a ticket kiosk if you wanted, but it’s not the best option for a bakery since you’re selling items anyway, not offering entertainment or something that might have customers lingering around without buying items.

How To Make Money With a Bakery

Skill Is The Key To Financial Success

Running asmall business is all about your skills, and the skills of your employees when you’re in a position where you’re able to start hiring people to help your business function. For yourself and your employees, you want them tohave a high cooking and baking skill level. Higher levels make it more likely that the Sim will create higher quality items, meaning that customers are going to be happier, and you can sell the items for more Simoleons.

The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies Review: An Entrepreneurial Venture That’s Just A Little Undercooked

The Sims 4 Businesses & Hobbies adds several meaningful features that give players lots of creative potential, but sadly lacks depth in other areas.

Aside from that, you can boost your bakery’s income by getting creative with what you offer. You could double it as a bookstore or café to appeal to more customers, or you could offer a place for Sims to play music or do stand-up, meaning that it would make more sense to add a ticket kiosk to get money from customers who want to hang around for live entertainment. Like most aspects of the game, how you design and run your bakery is only limited by your creativity inThe Sims 4: Businesses & Hobbies.
