The legendary animated sitcom,The Simpsons, has become a pop culture phenomenon in its nearly 40-year tenure on the air, and now it has scored a multi-season renewal. Created by Matt Groening and premiering as a segment on theTracey Ullman Showin 1987, the dysfunctional animated family quickly earned their own series, which was an immediate success. The simple premise spoofs the stereotypical American nuclear family, and has managed to remain relevant even as times continue to change around the show. Though shows likeFamily Guyhave followed in its footsteps,The Simpsonsreigns supreme.

As the show gracefully slides into its 36th season, it’s clear thatThe Simpsonsis well past its pop culture prime. However, recent seasons ofThe Simpsonshave actually seen an uptick in quality, and have offered a new viewing experience after so many decades of episodes. Long a staple of Fox’s Animation Domination slate,The Simpsonshas become a fixture that may be impossible to dislodge. This status was solidified even further when Fox renewed the show for four more seasons in early 2025.
