Simpsons Season 36 Image Confirms The Return Of A Deceased Character From 8x Oscar Nominated Actor

Summary

Fan-favorite character Sideshow Bob is returning inThe Simpsonsseason 36, as the long-running animated comedy is set to parody the HBO hitThe White Lotus. A favorite with both audiences and critics,The White Lotusis a dark comedy that focuses on rich people behaving badly while on vacation. So far, each season of the Mike White-created dramedy has ended with a murder of some kind. It’s something that could fit well with the return of the Kelsey Grammer villain known as Sideshow Bob, given his penchant for death and destruction, which may factor intoThe Simpsonsseason 36.

Ahead of the debut of season 36 on Fox on Sunday, September 29, long-timeSimpsonswriter-producerAl Jeanshares a photo of the upcomingWhite Lotusparody, which includes Sideshow Bobin the background. The episode will air on October 6.

What’s Sideshow Bob Been Up To On The Simpsons?

He Still Has Thoughts Of Killing Bart

In recent seasons ofThe Simpsons, Sideshow Bob has had a mix of prominent appearances and non-speaking cameos. His most significant occurrences have been in season 29’s “Gone Boy”, which sees the long-running antagonistas close as ever to killing Bart. But he decides not to, because of the influence of a therapist he’s been attending sessions with in prison. In an amusing glimpse into the future, it’s shown thatSideshow Bob regrets his decision to spare Bart.

His other big appearance takes place during season 35’s Treehouse of Horror XXXIV. During the segment titled “Ei8ht”, which functions as a parody of gritty crime thrillers likeSe7en, a potential alternate ending to the “Cape Feare” episode is revisited and Bob successfully kills Bart. However, in true Treehouse fashion, good fortunes turn against Bob, andthe segment ends with Lisa slashing Bob to death.

The Simpsons' Original Sideshow Bob Plan Would Have Completely Changed The Character

While Sideshow Bob is one of the show’s most famous villains, The Simpsons almost went a very different route when casting the iconic character.

Given thatThe White Lotushas so far featured a death every season, it could be that Bob’s appearance will be of some thematic significance. While Bob doesn’t have a big impact in every season, it makes it a treat to see him appear once more. With his desire to kill Bart inThe Simpsons, it will be interesting to see how that plays out in the parody.
