“The Penguinis one of those things where — and it’s interesting, because when you talk with everyone involved, everyone is interested in possibly revisiting those characters and doing more — it was very much designed as a limited series. But I would never say never. I think if we can get the creative stars to line up in the right way, and the talent is available — because we certainly wouldn’t want to do this without Colin [Farrell] and Cristin [Milioti] and that team — I would say it’s definitely a possibility, but there’s nothing in the works at the moment.”

What The WB TV Exec’s The Penguin Season 2 Comments Mean

The Penguin Season 2 Is Possible, But Could Take A While

As Channing Dungey, Lauren LeFranc, and Matt Reeves have stated multiple times,The Penguinwas always intended to be a limited series. However,The Penguin’s extremely high quality, massive popularity, and its connection to an expanding franchise open up countless possibilities for a second season. Colin Farrell’s Oz Cobb made major sacrifices but is currently free and aiming for bigger goals in Gotham City’s criminal underworld, and Cristin Milioti’s Sofia Gigante is in prison but still willing to fulfill her full potential as an independent mob boss.

I’ve Changed My Mind, I’m Glad The Penguin Showrunner Debunked The Theory That Theo Rossi’s Dr Julian Rush Is Actually Scarecrow

The Penguin’s showrunner refuted claims that Julian Rush is the Scarecrow of Matt Reeves' Batman franchise, and I think this is a good thing.

Colin Farrell is reportedly being eyed for the titular role in the DCU’sSgt. Rockmovie, and Matt Reeves is currently working onthe repeatedly delayedThe Batman - Part II. Therefore, it may take more than three years forThe Penguinseason 2to be greenlit and filmed, and from four to five years at the earliest to arrive on streaming. By then, the Penguin’s story must have progressed inThe Batman - Part II, which will be a key installment for every character in Matt Reeves’The Batmanuniverse.

Our Take On The WB TV Exec’s The Penguin Season 2 Comments

The Penguin Season 2 Is Warner Bros' Best Choice For The Batman’s Next TV Project

Matt Reeves’The Batman - Part IIhas struggled to get off the ground, and the DCU’sThe Brave and the Boldwill certainly take attention away from Reeves’Elseworldsfranchise in the future. Hence,The Batmanis unlikely to spawn new spinoffs based on other characters. However,The Penguin’s massive success almost guarantees a similar second season.AlthoughThe Penguinwas originally devised as a limited series, there’s plenty of materialThe Penguinseason 2 can cover, especially afterThe Batman - Part IIshakes up Gotham City in 2027.
