After leaving the series in 2011,Steve Carell returnedfor its series finalein 2013, where Michael was the best man at Dwight Schrute’s (Rainn Wilson) wedding. On theOffice Ladies podcast(viaVariety), series stars Jenna Fischer (Pam Halpert) and Angela Kinsey (Angela Martin), talked aboutThe Office’s series finale. In the podcast, they revealed that the show planned to also bring back Amy Ryan as Holly, and had already written dialogue for her. However, Ryan was unable to return to the role due to her schedule. In the planned scene, Holly would have been interviewed holding her and Michael’s two sons. She would have then revealed that the kids were named Chebonshur and Lowshebin, and that Michael himself named them. Holly’s lines from cut scene can be found below:

“Life is good. We have two sons: Chebonshur and Lowshebin. Michael named them. He said it was based on the feeling he had when he first saw them.”

What Holly’s Appearance Would Have Meant For The Office’s Series Finale

Viewers Would Have Learned More About Michael’s Life In Colorado

Even though Michael’s children aren’t shown inThe Officeseries finale, the episode does confirm that he is now a parent. If the episode had included Holly’s scene, it would have given more details about Michael’s kids. Holly talking about how good her life with Michael is in Colorado also would have shown that Michael’s dream of getting married and having kids (something he had dreamed about ever since he was a kid) not only came true, but that it was everything he hoped it would be.

The Office’s 2 Most Difficult Episodes To Sit Through Are Also The Show’s Funniest

The two most painful episodes of The Office — “Dinner Party” and “Scott’s Tots” — are also two of the show’s best and funniest installments.

Even though viewers hoped Michael would return, the show had to find the right balance to verify his return didn’t overshadow everything else. While Michael was the main character for the first seven seasons, the show continued for two years without him, and also had to wrap up everyone else’s story, too.

Our Take On The Scene Introducing Michael’s Children

The Scene Would Have Added To The Character’s Heartwarming Ending

Holly’s scene introducing Michael’s kids would have been a nice addition tohis already heartwarming ending. By revealing that Michael was the one who named them, it would have shown how excited he was to finally be a father. Holly herself being included in the finale would have also been a nice addition. Showing Holly taking care of the kids would have explained why she wasn’t able to attend the wedding herself.

Even though the scene didn’t happen, the series finale ofThe Officedid still find a heartwarming way to show that Michael is now a parent. In the scene where he shows Pam the pictures of his kids, the joy on Michael’s face perfectly showed that he is now living the life he always wanted for himself.
