Netflix’s hit show,The Night Agent, will be returning for a sophomore season with one key character from season 1 of the series being part of the cast. WithThe Night Agent’s castled by Gabriel Basso and Luciane Buchanan, the show followed Peter, an FBI agent who becomes involved in a political conspiracy. Based on Matthew Quirk’s best-selling novel of the same name,The Night Agentbecame one of Netflix’s biggest shows when it premiered.

ReacherandThe Night Agentare both anthology series. However, they have one significant difference. So far,Reacherhasn’t had any of the characters from its first season play a significant role in the show’s subsequent seasons. The Night Agentseason 2’s cast, on the other hand, will include a key character from season 1, which creates a huge challenge for the series.

The Night Agent Season 2 Has To Justify Why Rose Will Be Part Of The Story

Rose’s Story Was Completed In The Night Agent Season 1

WhileRoscoe’s possible return inReacherseason 3is justified, Rose being part ofThe Night Agentseason 2 cast isn’t. At the end ofTheNight Agentseason 1,Rose and Peter solve the show’s central mystery. The completion of the Metro bombing investigation means that Rose has no clear role to play in the story going forward. Peter, on the other hand, has a reason to be inThe Night Agentseason 2 because his story isn’t complete. After all, he still has to find out what really happened to his father.

I Hope The Night Agent Season 2 Brings Back My Favorite Thing About Netflix’s Season 1

The second season of The Night Agent will be released later this year and I hope it will bring back one of my favorite things about season 1.

Given thatThe Night Agentis going to be an anthology series likeReacherandJack Ryan,it doesn’t make sense for Rose to be in the sophomore season. The fact thatseason 1 used Matthew Quirk’s book which it was based on in its entirety, gives the show’s creators an opportunity to justify Rose’s continued presence in the series. Of course, Rose’s relationship with Peter is a justifiable reason for her to be inThe Night Agentseason 2. However, that reason alone would waste her potential because she’s a compelling character.

Rose Can’t Get Involved With The Night Agent’s New Case Out Of Sheer Chance Again

The Night Agent Season 2 Will Have To Explain Rose’s Involvement In Peter’s New Case

InReacherseason 1, Roscoe was involved in the case Reacher was investigating because she was a cop. Rose, on the other hand, became involved in Peter’s investigation because of her aunt and uncle. Now that that part of the story has been effectively closed, the next time Rose is an active part of whatever crime Peter is solving shouldn’t be out of sheer chance again. It would be tough for Rose to be involved in Peter’s new case, because, unlike him, she doesn’t work for the government.

Rose is the former CEO of a tech company, which makes her extremely handy with technology.

Peter and Rose with their hands up in a dockyard in The Night Agent

The Night Agentseason 1 endingwith Peter becoming an official night agent with no indication of what Rose will be doing in his absence is great for her story arc. Rose is the former CEO of a tech company, which makes her extremely handy with technology. Her skills with technology could be the shoe in she needs in order for her to work with Peter on a case again. Since it’s not possible forThe Night Agentseason 2 to be based on Quirk’s book, the show could draw inspiration from the author’s other books to give Rose a new role.

The Night Agent Season 2 Bringing Rose Back Is Great For The Netflix Show

There are, of course, several things that madeThe Night Agentsuch a successful show. The easy-to-follow story, an engaging mystery, and great chemistry between the two leads made the show a compelling watch. WhileReacheris beloved because it’s an anthology that introduces new characters in each season, this method isn’t without its risks.Audiences become attached to characters in TV shows, so it’s not always great to have a completely new cast in every season.

Although Rose’s story is complete in terms of her involvement with Peter’s investigation, the show’s first season didn’t really touch on why she was axed from her company.

Rose’s return inThe Night Agentseason 2 carries a lot of potential for the series. She’s an already-established character who had a compelling dynamic with Peter. SinceThe Night Agentseason 1 primarily focused on Peter and Rose, her return in season 2 to can build more on their relationship and what else the couple can achieve together. Although Rose’s story is complete in terms of her involvement with Peter’s investigation, the show’s first season didn’t really touch on why she was axed from her company.TheNight Agentseason 2 can explore that part of Rose’s story.
