This is when Solo recalls how a girl used to sit next to him in a Level B classroom.Juliette deduces that the girl Solo is talking about must have been 11 or 12 when the rebellion started, which would make Solo the same age as her. However, when Juliette tries to question him, he changes the topic.

However, when Juliette shows kindness towards him and calmly asks him to tell her about his past, he reveals his father, Russell Conroy, made him swear an oath and appointed him as the shadow before asking him to lock himself inside the vault. He reveals he was asked not to open the vault’s door for anyone, which he took very seriously. Even when Silo 17’s sheriff killed his father before his eyes, Solo kept his promise and did not open the vault.

Russell realized that the rebellion would lead to immense bloodshed and casualties, so he ensured his son was safe by asking him to stay inside the vault.

Juliette realizes that even though Solo’s father was deadset on protecting the vault from the rebels,he asked Solo to lock himself inside the vault because he wanted to protect him. Russell realized that the rebellion would lead to immense bloodshed and casualties, so he ensured his son was safe by asking him to stay inside the vault. When Solo realizes the truth about what his father was trying to do, he empathizes with the children from Silo 17. As a result, he gives in and allows them to access the vault.
