Summary

The extensiveFallout 4mod,Fallout: Londonhas introduced several new factions, including the Vagabonds. As one of the first factions players will likely meet on the streets of post-apocalyptic London, many are likely wondering if it is worth joining up with them or if they should decline the offer. There areboth benefits and drawbacks to joining the faction, as is typical with factions in manyFalloutgames, so players will want to know what they’re getting themselves into before they commit to any one group.

As with any faction, there is also a level of subjectivity that goes into a player’s decision to join or not. Even if a faction may convey certain benefits to the player, the group may just not be that player’s cup of tea. For instance, the NCR inFallout: New Vegasmay turn some players off due to the way they treat groups like the Great Khans, orFallout 4’s Brotherhood of Steel may have too strict of a hierarchy for some players to feel comfortable joining. So the Vagabonds may not be for everyone, benefits and all.

Fallout London Finally Releases With New Story, Environments, & Characters

After years of development and several major setbacks, the long-awaited Fallout: London mod is finally here and it’s everything Team FOLON promised.

Who Are The Vagabonds?

The Vagabonds Are A Well-Meaning Street Gang Out For Revenge

TheVagabonds are an organized street ganginFallout: London, styled after the real-life gang the Peaky Blinders. Like their inspiration, the group wears peaked flat caps, making it easy to distinguish their members. Though the Vagabonds once had somewhat altruistic motivations for distributing power equitably among people in their neighborhood, they have since turned more violent. This is due in large part to the murder of their previous leader by their rival gang, the Isle of Dogs Syndicate.

TheVagabonds are led by Sebastian Gaunt, a terse man whose personality matches that of his gang. He is outwardly rude and unpleasant, but hiding good intentions beneath his rough exterior. Gaunt will initially only offer the player some odd jobs, but players can eventually win him over and join up with the gang if they are so inclined.

How To Join The Vagabonds In Fallout: London

Players Should Speak With Sebastian Gaunt After The Tutorial

FollowingFallout: London’s tutorial, players run into the Vagabonds shortly after surviving a crash on the Tube. If players agree to work with them, Gaunt will give them a switchblade and have the player follow him. After a short walking tour of the surrounding area, players will be tasked with fetching a first aid kit for an injured member of the gang named “Tricky” Ricky.

After fighting their way through a ruined Greenwich Station populated by feral ghouls, players will find the kit and be able to return to Ricky. Players will then need tohead to the Swan & Mitre pub, where they will reunite with Gaunt and help the Vagabonds fight off some invading members of the Syndicate. Following the fight, players will need to help out various members of the Vagabonds with short quests before they can officially join up.

Pros Of Joining The Vagabonds

The Vagabonds Offer Quests, Supplies, And Healing

One of the biggest pros of joining the Vagabonds is that it is thefastest way to cure the player’s Railway SpineinFallout: London.Railway Spine is a condition the player gets immediately after the tutorial due to the Tube crash. It’s a rather nasty debuff, reducing all damage done by 10%. Luckily, shortly after meeting the Vagabonds, players can speak with Yvette and have her cure this affliction. This will make the rest of the game easier as players will be doing the proper amount of damage.

Another upside to joining the Vagabonds is that players will havea safe place to go early in the game. They can come to the Swan & Mitre for supplies and weapons, cutting down on the need to do as much scavenging to get by. This will also let players jump into the action more quickly, as they won’t have to waste too much time searching for good gear before getting started with quests.

Speaking of quests, the Vagabonds also offer a fair number of them. This will help the player get some early experience so they are ready to face bigger challenges. It also means that there is something to be doing right off the bat, which isgood for players who don’t want to wander aimlessly. That said, some players may prefer to explore on their own, which means they might want to hold off on starting up the Vagabonds’ questline.

Cons Of Joining The Vagabonds

Joining The Vagabonds Early Will Color The Player’s Perception Of Other Factions

One major con of joining up with the Vagabonds is that it can feel a little likeplayers are being railroaded to pick a side early on. Because players meet the Vagabonds so early, they don’t have too much time to form an opinion on them or their rival gang, the Isle of Dogs Syndicate. By not allowing players to organically learn about both factions and form their own opinions before joining up, players may feel a little pressured into quickly making the choice to join up with the Vagabonds.

That said, joining the Vagabonds doesn’t seem to lock players out of doing other choices. It is perfectly fine to do some of the Vagabonds early quests and get the Railway Spine cure, then move on to other parts of the game. For players who don’t want to immediately get tied down to the Vagabonds, this is probably the best course of action. They can reap all the rewards of early membership while also leaving themselves free to experience the other factionsFallout: Londonhas to offer.

As of now, it doesn’t seem like joining the Vagabonds has any sort of negative lasting consequences that players need to avoid. This means that the advantages of joining the group, or at least working with them for a bit, far outweigh the downsides.Fallout: Londonplayers should, therefore, give the Vagabonds a chance at the very least and get themselves cured before moving on to other factions.
