I would say that Shawn and I have been pretty clear, I think, in the most loving way, because talk about the greatest uptown problem any human beings could have is a studio like that saying, ‘What’s next?’ Or ‘How can we make something else?’ But this movie was made as a complete experience. It wasn’t meant to be a commercial for another movie. It wasn’t meant to be any of that stuff. And, I think I get a great deal of joy making a movie like that. But honestly, right in this moment, I have no idea if I’ll ever wear that Deadpool suit again— I hope I do — but I don’t know. Right now’s the time to just kind of hang it up for a bit and see what happens next.

Why The MCU’s Multiverse Saga Needs Deadpool To Return
As the MCU gets closer to finishing Phase 5 and getting into Phase 6,The Multiverse Sagawill need Deadpool more than ever after the events ofDeadpool & Wolverine. Through the overall story ofDeadpool & Wolverine, Wade has become a crucial player for the multiverse concept. The Phase 5 adventure even established that Deadpool has crossed over to Earth-616 at least once, as shown in his scene with Happy Hogan.
Given Deadpool is also shown successfully repairing his universe and saving it from certain disaster, it would make no sense to not have Reynolds back in some capacity for Phase 6. With major movies likeAvengers: DoomsdayandAvengers: Secret Warsset to explore threats to the multiverse, having one of the few figures who knows how to fix things appear seems par for the course for the overarching story
It is also very possible that Reynolds is being coy, as he, along with Hugh Jackman, teased in manyDeadpool & Wolverineinterviews that they are clearly not entirely done withthe MCU timeline.
