Summary

Following her absence in the show’s most recent season, despite the return of a fellow season 1 character, Willa Fitzgerald weighs in on her potentialReacherfuture. Fitzgerald starred in the debut season of Prime Video’s adaptation of Lee Child’s novel character as Roscoe Conklin, a sergeant working for the Margrave Police Department who becomes entangled in the titular wanderer’s investigation into local corruption and the death of his brother. Along the way, Roscoe and Reacher develop a romantic relationship, though he leaves town at the end of season 1, being given her phone number and an open invite to return.

During a recent interview withScreen Rantfor her upcoming psychological thrillerStrange Darling, Fitzgerald was asked her thoughts on a potentialReacherreturn after her season 2 absence. TheRoscoe actor admitted to having not heard anythingfrom the creative team of the Prime Video show, inviting people to “ask Nick Santora” about that, but remained open to the possibility, reflecting on how it was “a very fun show to shoot.” See what Fitzgerald said below:

Alan Ritchson as Jack Reacher in Reacher season 2 with the Persuader book cover

I mean, I don’t know anything about it. Very honestly, I’ve heard nothing, so you’ll have to ask Nick Santora about that. [Laughs] But I’ve watched all of season 2, and I’ll watch season 3. I love what they’re doing over there, I think it’s very fun. I [enjoyed my time with Alan] too, it was a very fun show to shoot. I love Alan.

Roscoe’s Future In Reacher Is All But Guaranteed (Even If Not Anytime Soon)

Beyond just their romantic connection in season 1,Roscoe’s absence inReacherseason 2proved something of a surprisefor audiences when Malcolm Goodwin’s Finlay made a cameo, assisting Alan Ritchson’s titular character in his latest investigation. Part of the surprise about Goodwin’s return also came from the fact he was not part ofBad Luck and Trouble, the book the season adapted for its story, even while remaining faithful to the 2007 novel aside from that.

10 Details Reacher’s Next Book Reveals About Season 3’s Story

After Reacher season 2’s finale, Alan Ritchson confirmed on Instagram which Lee Child novel the Amazon Prime Video series would adapt for season 3.

While she may not have appeared in season 2 orreturning forReacherseason 3, per her above comments, Fitzgerald’s potential future as Roscoe in the show still seems all but guaranteed. Amazon Studios head Jennifer Salke has already indicated thatPrime Video is keen to keep the show going as long as Ritchson wants to, an understandable viewpoint considering the show has been a ratings hit since its premiere. Given Roscoe and Reacher’s dynamic quickly became a fan-favorite in season 1, it would be understandable for the creative team to try and find an organic way to bring her back.

The other major reason whyRoscoe’s futureReacherreturnseems likely is the fact that showruner Nick Santora is open to slight deviations from Lee Child’s source material to include familiar faces from previous seasons. Though a cameo from Fitzgerald may not be as well received by audiences as a proper supporting role,it could also go a long way to laying down some groundworkfor a bigger role in future seasons, including a potential finale in which Reacher settles down with Roscoe, an idea he pondered in season 2.
