The show gives the Greys an alternative way of blending in with humans. Instead of physically transforming,the Grey Aliens created Grey/human hybrids to serve as their operativeson Earth. The hybrids all look exactly like regular humans, albeit very attractive ones. The development of the cross-bred species was to aid in the Grey’s surveillance and eventual domination of the planet. Their ultimate goal was to transform Earth’s atmosphere, as it’s unsuitable to support pure Grey life. It’s an elegant solution, despite being for a nefarious scheme, but it’s also far less streamlined than shapeshifting would be.
