2025’sSnow Whitehas hit a major box office milestone. The Disney live-action remake, which was directed by Marc Webb, stars Rachel Zegler in the title role opposite Gal Gadot as the Evil Queen and features new original songs by Pasek and Paul along with classics from the 1937 movie including “Heigh-Ho” and “Whistle While You Work.“Snow Whitebacklashmarred the debut of the new movie, coming from many corners including the property’s depiction of dwarfism and the leads' opposing opinions on Israel and Palestine.
PerDeadline, as of Saturday morning,Snow Whiteis projected to earn a 3-day total of $5.9 million by the end of its third weekend at the domestic box office, bringing its cumulative domestic total to $77.3 million. This sees it falling from No. 2 to No. 4on the chart for the weekend behind week 2 ofA Working Man(No. 2) and the new releasesA Minecraft Movie(No. 1) andThe Chosen: Last Supper - Part 2(No. 3).

While this cumulative total means thatit has passed the $75 million milestone at the domestic box office,Varietyreports that current projections show that it may not end up passing $100 million in North America by the end of its run.
What This Means For Snow White
Its Success Is Hampered By Its Budget
Hitting the $75 million milestone at the domestic box office is no small achievement. In fact, thelive-actionSnow Whiteis onlythe fourth 2025 release to have done so this year so far, behind onlyDog Man,Captain America: Brave New World, andA Minecraft Movie. However, the fact that it may not crest $100 million in North America could be severely damaging, especially because its international grosses have so far remained roughly even with its domestic haul.
A Minecraft Movieis poised to have a record-breaking opening weekend north of $100 million.

This is an issue because of the hugeSnow Whitebudget, which is reportedly $250 million. Because movies typically need to earn two and a half times their production budgets in theaters in order to turn a profit, thismost likely places the movie’s break-even point somewhere around $625 millionor more. Given the fact that it may not even hit $250 million by the end of its theatrical, this will most likely mean significant losses for Disney.

WhileSnow Whitecould very well lose Disney millions of dollars, the company will likely not suffer for long. Their upcoming slate includes a wide variety of movies connected to strong IP that could very well turn their prospects around. This includes the live-action remake ofLilo & Stitch(which does not come with the same baggage of controversy asSnow White), the legacy sequelFreakier Friday,Zootopia 2, Pixar’sElio, and Marvel’sFantastic Four: First StepsandThunderbolts*.
