There’s no shortage of love forPokémon’s first generation, especially when it comes to Fire-types, butone under-appreciated pocket monster is finally getting its time to shine. As far as merchandise is concerned, the Pokémon community tends to gravitate toward a few specific critters for apparel with most of the attention being thrown at iconic stand-outs likePikachu, Gengar, Mimikyu, Squirtle, and Pysduck. So when a less-popular but still beloved pocket monster gets merchandise dedicated to them, fans will no doubt be quick to purchase the new range.

PerThe Pokémon Center,Vulpix is the latest Gen 1 Pokémon to feature on some fresh threads, including a Sleepwear Robe, Sleepwear Pants, and various other pajamas featuring the fiery fox. The designs depicting Vulpix see the Fire-type leaping around a glade while also taking a moment to rest up, an image that is perfectly suited for sleepwear clothing. Vulpix merchandise is few and far between, which is odd considering it’s one of the most popular Gen 1 Pokémon, so having a new collection of clothes dedicated to it is a massive win.

Pokémon That Are Just Japanese Yokai

Pokémon are inspired by a number of different things, including mythology and real-life animals, and some are based on Japanese Yokai folklore.

Vulpix Has Earned Its Popularity

More Than An Adorable Fox

It’s no secret that many Pokémon fans adore Vulpix because it’s such an adorable take on a traditional fox, but it’s worth remembering that it can be a decent party member in earlyPokémongames. While recent entries have largely outpaced Vulpix and its evolution Ninetales,in Gen 1 and Gen 2, it was a decent Fire-type that could learn some powerful movesduring the early stages of a playthrough. The real goal is to evolve into Ninetales, who may not have the depth of other evolved Fire-types but can still stand up against most enemies if leveled correctly.

Fortunately for Vulpix, Game Freak at least recognized its popularity and deemed it appropriate to give the Gen 1 pocket monstera new form inPokémon Sun & Moon. The Alolan variant is an Ice-type with a wildly different move set than the originalbut once again, the real mechanical advantage is evolving it to Alolan Ninetales, which doubles up as an Ice/Fairy-type. Many players also consider the white and blue color scheme to be more aesthetically pleasing but that’s simply a matter of preference.

When it comes toPokémonmerchandise collections, championing the pocket monsters with a smaller but still decent following makes for a refreshing change of pace. While Pikachu will likely always be the face of the franchise, every Pokémon is indeed someone’s favorite. Having as broad a range as possible makes for a happy fanbase.
