With there being a ranked competitive mode inMarvel Rivals, many players are trying to find an edge over their opponents to boost them into the higher ranks, whether Grandmaster or even One Above All. The practice range has proven to be a great place for experimenting, especially if players want to try out combos with characters like Magik or want to improve their aim with the likes of Hawkeye and Hela. While practice always helps, some universal tricks are equally useful.

Marvel Rivalsfeatures some pretty extensive remapping and customization tools for PC users, allowing them to have certain setups for specific characters, such as being able tochange the crosshair on every single character. For the most part, the default keys are standard across the genre, such as left-clicking for primary fire, pressing Q for the ultimate ability, and so on, but one default option can be changed to get the most out of certain characters.Swapping the melee key from V to a mouse button is particularly useful, especially for Vanguardcharacters.

Rebinding The Melee Attack Will Help Deal More Damage In Marvel Rivals

And It Only Takes A Few Seconds

Thankfully, remapping controls is simple inMarvel Rivals. First,go to Settings by pressing the cog icon on the top left of the home screen, then to the Keyboard tab (PC players), and find the corresponding setting under the Combat tab beneath that. There, the melee attack action, which is set to the V key by default, can be changed to a button on the mouse. This button shouldn’t be the right or left click, and although the scroll wheel isn’t advised, it can be used if there are no side buttons on the mouse.

Some melee attacks can combo. Groot’s melee attack can be used three times in quick succession in a three-hit combo ending in a slam attack.

Remapping the melee button allows players tomove more easily while using the melee attackand to quickly add this attack between using primary fire.Having the melee attack on the mouse, rather than V, makes it more convenient, especially for those who aren’t used to hero shooters or FPS titles. This change stands out as a boon for characters who tend to have slow primary fire rates, where adding a melee attack in between won’t affect said fire rate. This is particularly useful withMarvel Rivals' Vanguard characters.

Using The Melee Attack Between Primary Fire Will Make Damage Add Up

It Is Especially Powerful For Doctor Strange & Magik

Being able to quickly use the melee attack is amazing for characters that benefit from animation canceling this attack.Rivals' Magik is a prime exampleof this, as some of her combos require canceling the animation of the end of her primary attack into her melee attack (where she hits enemies with the end of her sword). This makes her strike faster, thus generating her shield quicker. It is alsouseful for Doctor Strangesince he can attack enemies at melee range with his whip between using his primary fire, helping generate more Dark Magic stacks.

Marvel Rivals: How To Destroy Deployable Abilities & Protect Your Own

Deployed abilities leave a targetable object in Marvel Rivals that you should destroy. Ignoring them harms your team by making enemies more deadly.

Characters like Venom, who shoots his tendrils out slowly, can do extra damage to nearby enemies with his melee between using his primary fire, and the damage adds up over time. It might be the difference between killing a foe and letting them live. With Magik and Doctor Strange in particular, it is an invaluable asset, helping both to generate stacks while doing extra damage. This trick is just one of the many things thatMarvel Rivalsdoesn’t tell its players, and it’s definitely worth trying with some heroes to eke out more damage.
