Warning: Contains spoilers for One Piece chapter #1130.Two of the most infamous examples of poor powerscaling inOne Piececan be found with Dorry and Brogy. Ever since their return in the Egghead arc, they’ve had one incredible showing after another with feats like decimating the Kid Pirates and holding their own against the Five Elders, which makes it all the more surprising that they’ve maintained the largely insignificant bounties of 100 million Berries.
Dorry and Brogy’s power has quickly become inconsistent with their relatively small bounties, butOne Piecechapter #1130has finally addressed that. Chapter #1130 saw the first news report following Vegapunk’s broadcast and everything else that happened on Egghead, and not only do Dorry and Brogy get new bounties, butOne Piecechapter #1130 offers a brilliant explanation for why Dorry and Brogy’s original bounties were so low, despite their alleged infamy. It was a great way to explain something Eiichiro Oda likely didn’t plan for, and overall, it perfectly justifies Dorry and Brogy’s continued presence in the series.

Dorry & Brogy Now Have Some Of The Highest Bounties In One Piece
Dorry & Brogy Are Finally Big Names Again
InOne Piecechapter #1130, Dorry and Brogy were surprised to learn that their bounties were increased from 100 million Berries to a startling 1.8 billion Berries. While some of that is attributed to their actions on Egghead, Robin stated that a large part of it is due to inflation dramatically impacting their bounties after a century. That means thatDorry and Brogy’s original bounties of 100 million Berries were the equivalent of a billion Berries in their era, so they were always some of the strongest fighters inOne Pieceand simply needed that reflected by modern standards.
Of course, Dorry and Brogy having such high bounties now makes Mr. 3 almost killing them even weirder, but that’s easy to explain. Not only did Mr. 3 catch them off guard, Dorry by sneaking an explosive in his drink, and Brogy by attacking him after his fight, but their skills were probably dulled from only having each other as opponents for a century, as well.Dorry and Brogy likely didn’t regain their full power until they started working with the Red-Haired Pirates, and that would be consistent with their loss to Mr. 3 while still rationalizing their true power.

One Piece Uses Inflation To Explain An Incongruency From 25 Years Ago
As much as Eiichiro Oda is hailed for planning things years and decades in advance, in reality, much of theOne Piecemangahas gone through countless changes, and Dorry and Brogy’s original bounties are likely a holdover from what he originally decided counted as a high bounty. At the very least,One Pieceusing inflation to justify Dorry and Brogy’s new bounties is a clever way of correcting what eventually became an error on Eiichiro Oda’s part, and seeing more instances of that will surely add a lot toOne Piecethroughout its final saga.
One Piece
Created by Eiichiro Oda, One Piece is a multimedia franchise that began as a manga series and follows the adventures of the Straw Hat Pirates as led by Monkey D. Luffy. Luffy, an enthusiastic pirate with a thirst for adventure, is afflicted by a mysterious curse that gives him various powers he uses to protect himself and his friends. The manga eventually gave way to the anime series, with the two being some of history’s longest-running anime and manga series. Along with over fifty video games made over the years, the series entered the live-action world with Netflix’s 2023 adaptation.
