One ofSupermanlore’s greatest antagonists, the Kryptonian General Zod, is back to make a major impact on DC canon. Superman might have thought he was free of Zod for good, but the villain is making his way back to Earth, and in a twist, though General Zod has lost his powers, and someone very close to Superman has them.
Superman#23 – written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Dan Mora – was a gamechanging issue for the Man of Steel’s mythos.Lex Luthor managed to defeat Doomsday, Lois Lane had a meeting with the Time Trapper, and the Time Trapper was attacked by Darkseid’s Legion of Super-Heroes.

It was a lot, but one of the most exciting things was the ending, when Zod made his triumphant return, and was immediately set on a collision course for Earth – and the newly empowered Lois Lane.
DC Reveals Lois Lane Accidentally Stole Zod’s Powers, In A Major Twist On Her New “Superwoman” Role
Superman#23 – Written By Joshua Williamson; Art By Dan Mora; Color By Alejandro Sanchez; Lettering By Ariana Maher.
At the very endSuperman#23, fans got to see General Zod, who hasn’t been on the page since the ending of his own comic. It seems that General Zod’s powers have been completely removed from him, and he’s heading to Earth to try and take them back, which is a problem, considering it’s Lois Lane who has them. This is a major point of tension for the series to introduce, especially as both fans of the franchise, and Lois herself, are still acclimating to her new paradigm.
DC’sAbsolute Powerevent was major. It saw Amanda Waller using enhanced versions of the android Amazo to steal the powers of every powered being on Earth. She very nearly managed to take over the world because of this. Thankfully, the Justice League managed to foil her plot and redistribute all the powers back to the heroes – but not every power ended up exactly where it belonged. Some characters have swapped powers, and in the case of Lois Lane, received powers she was never meant to have.

The Eye of Ekron is returning to DC lore, targeting an iconic villain - but if they can survive the attack, they’ll be able to claim it for themselves
It was revealed inSuperrwoman#1 – written by Joshua Williamson, with art by Edwin Galmon – that when Amanda Waller’s Amazos were destroyed, they released a massive shockwave. This shockwave struck Lois Lane, who was wearing one of Lex Luthor’s battlesuits at the time. Not only was this suit connected to Amanda Waller’s vast network, but it was also searching for signals out in deep space. Somehow, this combination resulted inZod and Lois Lane swapping powers, andas Lois Lane doesn’t have powers, Zod ended up with nothing.

Zod Has Lost Everything, Not Just His Powers, Making Him More Dangerous Than Ever
He Has A Brand New Reason To Hate Superman & His Family
General Zod has had a pretty rough year; after a meeting at the United Planets, it was agreed thatZod and his familywould be given their own planet so that Zod might try to restart the Kryptonian race and leave the rest of the universe alone. This seemed to work at first, but everything went downhill for Zod pretty quickly. After his son, Lor-Zod, refused to obey his orders, Zod banished him from the planet. Shortly after, Zod’s planet was attacked by powerful aliens, who killed his wife Ursa, who was also pregnant with their next child.
While Zod isn’t currently aware of exactly who has taken his powers, he knows it’s someone on Earth, and he’s slowly heading there along with his crew.

After this, Zod was forced from his own planet, and he traveled the galaxy for a while. While Zod had lost everything, he at least had a ship and a crew that he commanded respect from. It seemed like Zod might have finally been rebuilding his reputation and starting to find his place in life. Unfortunately, that’s exactly when this bizarre coincidence struck, and Zod lost his powers due to Lois Lane. While Zod isn’t currently aware of exactly who has taken his powers, he knows it’s someone on Earth, and he’s slowly heading there along with his crew.
Zod Is Ready For Another Confrontation With The Super-Family
But Is The Super-Family Ready For Zod?
Zod and Superman have never been able to get on good terms. Zod has continually tried to bring back Krypton no matter the cost, even threatening to take over Earth several times. In addition to this, Zod also has a personal hatred of the House of El due to his interactions with Jor-El. Superman and Zod have simply never gotten along with one another. They seemed to part on amicable terms after Zod and his family were given their own planet, but with the planet, his family, andhis powers gone, Zod has every reason to harbor resentment towards Superman.
Even if Lois taking Zod’s powers was a complete accident, that’s not going to make a difference to Zod.

Superman still has everything Zod lost. Superman still has his family, he has his world, he has his wife, and his wife has inadvertently taken Zod’s powers. Everything Zod has lost, Superman still has. It makes perfect sense that Zod’s hatred of Superman would be reignited. Even if Lois taking Zod’s powers was a complete accident, that’s not going to make a difference to Zod. WhileSupermanhas just recently managed to repel the threat of Doomsday, he now has an even angrier villain coming his way.
