A newPaddington in Peruimage unveils more about the sequel. The movie, which is the third installment in the franchise adapting the Michael Bond children’s book series of the same name, follows the anthropomorphic bear Paddington (Ben Whishaw) as he and his adoptive family visit his beloved Aunt Lucy (Imelda Staunton) in Peru, only to discover that she has gone missing. TheupcomingPaddington in Perualso features returning stars Hugh Bonneville, Madeleine Harris, Samuel Joslin, Julie Walters, and Jim Broadbent, as well as newcomers Olivia Colman, Antonio Banderas, and Emily Mortimer (replacing Sally Hawkins as Mary Brown).

One element of the image that prevents the stakes from seeming more dire than they might have been is the fact that Aunt Lucy’s bed is made, which serves to highlight the fact that she has seemingly left of her own volition. Thus, her disappearance can fuel a new adventure for thePaddingtoncastthat isjust as gentle and charming as the previous movies, even though it features bigger adventure setpieces and takes place in a very different location from the quiet London neighborhood of the first two movies.

Paddington’s name is derived from the fact that his adoptive family, the Browns, discovered him at Paddington Station in London.

However, in addition to fueling the adventure angle of the movie, Aunt Lucy’s disappearance will likely provide the emotional core of the new movie. While she does not appear onscreen very often in the Paddington movies, Aunt Lucy’s teachings are what helped allow the hapless young bear to thrive during his time in England in addition to helping improve the lives of those around him. Allowing her to accomplish her dream of visiting London was also an important desire of the title character’s that fueled the poignantPaddington 2ending.
