This April, DC Comics will be publishingThe Power Company: Recharged #1, a 32-page one-shot by Bryan Edward Hill, Khary Randolph, and Alitha Martinez which brings metahuman attorney Josiah Power back into the spotlight. Spinning out of this year’sDC Power: Rise of the Power Company, Josiah combats a flood of anti-metahuman hate just as his powers begin to fluctuate.
To make the world safe for metahumans and to stop a serial killer from terrorizing the Atlanta streets, Power forms a new iteration of his old team,consisting of Black Lighting, Jace Fox’s Batman, the Signal, and Vixen.

Someone’s Finally Taking Steps to Undo Amanda Waller’s Damage
Amanda Waller wasn’t kidding aroundwhen she went above and beyond to take control of the DC Universe’s metahumans. To legitimize her plans to de-power and arrest the world’s superheroes,Waller had the Brainiac Queen, a powerful artificial intelligence, generate hundreds of AI-doctored videos that showed heroes losing control and attacking the world. The videos were so effective, the public began to believe them and attacked heroes like Animal Man in response. The heroes eventually got Waller on camera admitting to her crimes,but the damage she did duringAbsolute Poweris still being felt all over the DC Universe.
For those unfamiliar with Josiah Power, he was an attorney who was affected by the Dominators' Gene Bomb. Power founded the Power Company as a team of heroes-for-hire who occasionally worked alongside teams like the Justice League. But times have changed and even though Waller’s videos were revealed as fakes, she’s instilled a deep distrust in the metahuman community across the world. Power is already feeling the damage as solicited information has revealed his nephew has died as a result of Waller. Now he’s assemblinga new team to combat the misinformation Waller has unleashed on the DC Universe.

With Heroes like Vixen and Black Lightning, Almost Certainly
It’s understandable that the DC Universe’s citizens are in a fragile state right now. Waller’s attack terrorized the world at large, not just metahumans. People without powers are more scared than ever and when people are afraid, they can get violent and hateful. But that’s what makes Josiah Power’s new mission so important. While the Justice League is busy with the most pressing threats, this new Power Company can be more active in communities and get down to the average person’s level. That’s going to go a long way towardshelping people without powers see DC’s metahumans as less of a threat.
That’s not to say it’s going to be easy. Josiah’s powers are fluctuating and some people in the DC Universe have even gained new powers thanks to Waller’s actions (possibly even the serial killer the solicited information mentioned). But Power’s new crew has several amazing heroes on it, including the wise and kick-ass Black Lightning. It’ll be an uphill battle to turn the tide of hate, butDC Comics’revitalized Power Company seems to be up for the challenge.
