Summary
The Dark Urge Origin character inBaldur’s Gate 3adds the most original options to a playthrough, so much so that some players have argued that developer Larian Studios always intended for theDark Urge to be the game’s main character. Those who haven’t already played through the Dark Urge’s storyline may want towait for Patch 7, though, giventhe sheer amount of new content the evil character will receive with the September update.
In a new teaser for Patch 7 released by the developer, Larian Studios finally gave players a better look at some of the more evil endings that’ll be available to them when the new patch releases, and it looks like the Dark Urge is getting a serious upgrade. The teaser, posted to Reddit by userKazuliski, shows the default dragonborn Dark Urge taking control of Shadowheart, Lae’zel, and a hornless, non-devil Wyll atop the Netherbrain, using the tadpoles still in their brains to force them into plummeting to their demise.

Taking control of the Netherbrain (and essentially all the in-game companions) has always been an option for players inBaldur’s Gate 3, but before this patch, the ending was rarely a satisfying one. Instead, many players looked for satisfaction in the more evil endings for individual companions, such as letting Astarion ascend or helping Gale achieve godhood. This short teaser confirms that those yearning for a truly evil playthrough will soon get their long-desired ending.
5 Baldur’s Gate 3 Villains You Can Sympathize With (& 5 Who Are Just Despicable)
Some villains in BG3 turn out to be likable characters that leave a lasting memory for their good qualities, while others are downright terrible.
Patch 7 Will Let Players Take Control Of Their Companions In Baldur’s Gate 3
These New Endings Are Some Of The Most Evil In The Game
There are plenty ofevil deeds the Dark Urge can completein the popular CRPG, but it seems Larian Studios is officially listening to player feedback with these teased endings. In the teaser scene, after taking control of the three companions, the Dark Urge convinces them to walk off the side of the Netherbrain.“Time for the final act,“the narrator says, “Your tragedy has become mankind’s.” The Dragonborn then steps off the edge of the Netherbrain into the abyss below.
What exactly happens after this scene isn’t revealed in the teaser, butother teased scenes have shown the Bhaalspawn lying on the ground surrounded by dead bodies, or levitating in front of an audience of mind-controlled worshipers, armed with spears and ready to fight at the Dark Urge’s command. Taking control of the companion characters, who have supported the player through their entire journey to the Netherbrain, is a particularly nefarious move – and one many players have wished to see through.

Though it’s confirmedthere won’t be official DLCforBaldur’s Gate 3,the consistent updates provided by Larian Studios in the year since the game’s release have continued to improve the well-loved title. Players who love to bend their morals and push the boundaries of evil in video games cantruly see through some of the darker moments in Patch 7, and the Dark Urge character will be all the better for it.
