Out of all the new anime coming out in 2025, my most anticipated series could becomethe next big hitshojo. After a huge year for anime fans in 2024, the new year is shaping up to have a great selection of new and returning shows. Some of the most hyped series of the year includethe return ofSpy x Familyin October, as well as the upcoming adaptation of the hilarious horror comedy,Night of the Living Cat. However, I have my eyes fully set on a new shojo series that has a ton of potential.
Based on the manga by Iwatebineko,The Invisible Man and His Soon-to-Be Wifeis a new anime that stars Shizuka Yakou, a blind woman working for a detective agency. Her boss, Akira Tounome, is an invisible man. When he discovers that Shizuka has her own gifts that allow her to know whenever he’s close by, he becomes attracted to her and begins a journey to court her on a date. It’s an unlikely romance that stems from the supernatural side of the genre, and the concept alone is so strong that it immediately grabbed me. There are just so many possibilities for this series, and I can’t wait to see how the show plays out.

The Pairing Between Akira and Shizuka Sounds Incredibly Sweet
The concept of an iconic monster finding love with a humanisn’t anything new. There have been countless stories through the years that explore the concept, with Guillermo del Toro’s take on the subject,The Shape of Water, even garnering the Academy Award for Best Picture of 2017. Universal Pictures also explored a similar idea back in the 1930s withThe Bride of Frankensteinas the monster discovers a blind man and becomes friends with him. It’s an interesting idea, and I have a feeling that this upcoming anime will continue this idea with some interesting new spins.
For starters,Akira and Shizuka seem to make an adorable pair based on teaser images alone.The look of passion on Shizuka’s face as the Invisible Man caresses her is incredibly sweet. Plus, given how dapper and gentlemanly Akira is described, this is a story that is bound to have enough romance to make anyone swoon. As long as the chemistry for this series is well-written, this anime is bound to be a home run because when it comes to romance, the passion between the two leads is key.

However, Itsumoi’s passion for language and desire to learn more about Yuki’s world as a deaf person made them a sweet pair, making the series itself one of Crunchyroll’s biggest shojo series.

However,what’s interesting is how different the two shows' couples are from each other besides sharing a similar story premise.Yuki and Itsuomi fromA Sign of Affectionare built up as a couple that probably wouldn’t work given Itsuomi’s love for languages. On the other hand, Akira and Shizuka seem made for each other as Shizuka can easily look past Akira being invisible to see the kind man he is underneath.
