Miyagi Was Not The Thief, But The Victim
The mystery in question links back to the box Daniel, Amanda, and Chozen found inCobra Kaiseason 6’s first part beneath the floorboards of Miyagi’s dojo. The box included a newspaper clipping that mentioned an assault and the theft of a valuable necklace, with the reveal throwing Daniel off balance. However,Cobra Kaiseason 6, part 3 revealed the history of the necklace, explaining that it was an heirloom of the Miyagi family. The necklace belonged to Mr. Miyagi’s mother, with his father granting it to him after he decided to move to the United States.
The necklace was given to Miyagi in case he needed to sell it in order to earn some money upon emigrating. Miyagi kept the necklace, instead deciding to give it to his wife. During World War II, Miyagi’s wife was taken to an internment camp for Japanese-Americans while he fought in Europe. This led to the necklace being stolen by a guard at the camp, robbing the Miyagi family of their heirloomand prompting the next stage of the mystery, which links back to Daniel’s discovery fromCobra Kaiseason 6, part 1.

The Answer Was Close To Home
Regarding how these answers were discovered inCobra Kaiseason 6, part 3, they were divulged by another member of theKarate Kiduniverse who had a strong connection to Mr. Miyagi: Daniel LaRusso’s mother. Randee Heller returns inCobra Kaiseason 6, part 3 as Lucille LaRusso, with the family gathering for a meal in the show’s final episode. During the meal, Lucille reveals that she has the necklace, prompting her to explain the entire story to Daniel, Amanda, and Samantha.
Lucille’s story was arguably the best way for Daniel to uncover the necklace’s mysteries…

Lucille notes that she did not think Miyagi had told Daniel this story, unaware of the latter’s research into the newspaper clipping and Miyagi’s other secrets. Thankfully, though, the answers to these secrets were within Daniel’s family the entire time. The strong connection between Miyagi and Lucille meant that the latter was trusted with the story, with Miyagi likely not telling Daniel due to his hot-headedness. After all,Cobra Kaiseason 6, part 3 outlines how out of balance Daniel becomes when learning of Mr. Miyagi’s past, meaning Lucille’s story was arguably the best way for Daniel to uncover the necklace’s mysteries.
Mr. Miyagi’s Necklace Has Now Been Given To Samantha LaRusso
The Necklace Has Found Its Next Owner
The final development regarding Miyagi’s necklace inCobra Kaiseason 6, part 3 concerned its next owner. At the aforementioned family dinner scene inCobra Kaiseason 6’s finale, Lucille first mentions that she has the necklace as she physically brought it with her. Lucille unveils the necklace, revealing that she is giving it to Samantha on Miyagi’s orders. After reclaiming the necklace and later befriending the LaRusso family, Miyagi gave it to Lucille and told her to present the heirloom to Sam when the moment was right.
InCobra Kaiseason 6, part 3, Sam’s life changes when she realizes she has nothing left to fight for in karate. This also leads her to the decision to pursue a life away from the valley, specifically in Okinawa. Sam is accepted into an exchange year to spend time studying in Miyagi’s homeland, which strikes Lucille as the perfect time to present her with the necklace. Not only does this make sense on Lucille’s part in fulfilling Miyagi’s wish for Sam to have it, but it also renders the journey full circle.

The necklace was first given to Miyagi in Okinawa when he moved to the United States. Its journey then saw it pass from owner to owner, rightful or wrongful, before making its way to Lucille. Now, the necklace will find its way back to Okinawa in the hands of Sam. This, as well as the other answers provided inCobra Kaiseason 6, part 3, make the story of Miyagi all the more satisfying than it already was, ending the mysterious tale off on a heartwarming final note.
