New episodes ofLionessseason 2 drop on Sundays at 3 am ET on Paramount+. Since season 2 consists of eight episodes, the finale is scheduled to premiere on Sunday, December 8.

During theLionessseason 2 premiere, a Mexican cartel, Los Tigres, kidnaps a Congresswoman. Joe McNamara, Kyle McManus, and their team (which includes acameo fromLionessseason 2 showrunner Taylor Sheridan) rescue her, but the fight is far from over. The CIA learns that Los Tigres isn’t the one pulling the strings. Instead, a Chinese agent with the Ministry of State Security is calling the shots, and it’s Josephina’s job to find them. Joe selects Josephina for the mission because she is (or was) an expert Army helicopter pilot andJosephina’s uncle is the leader of the Los Tigres cartel.

Given that Josephina joined the Army, it appears as if she was trying to separate herself from her criminal familyinLionessseason 2. When Joe meets her,Josephina claims she has never met her uncle and doesn’t speak Spanish.She also affirms that she loves her country. However, Joe is skeptical. Josephina’s father, who moved from Mexico to the United States as a child, is undoubtedly still in communication with his brother since he owns a mansion that he couldn’t afford on his salary. So, Joe and Kyle poke and prod Josephina in episode 3 and finally get answers.

Now that Joe knows the truth inLionessseason 2, Josephina’s control is rapidly dwindling, and she’ll have to choose her family or country.

During the interrogation inLionessseason 2, episode 3, Kyle speaks to Josephina in Spanish, and she responds, confirming that she lied about knowing Spanish. After that, it’s over.Joe and Kyle accuse Josephina of being a spy for her family,but she adamantly denies it. Josephina says she has stayed away from her family because she doesn’t want any part in their business. However, Josephina clearly lied to Joe because she wanted to protect them. Nevertheless, Joe gives the Lioness a chance to redeem herself by having her call her father, andJosephina does so inLionessseason 2.

More specifically, Josephina doesn’t want anything bad to happen to her parents or sister, and she might be able to protect them if she is the one who goes undercover.
