While I think it could be fun and nostalgic to see the characters again as adults,it could not recapture the same essence of youthful adventure and camaraderiefrom the first film.The Gooniesis a 1980s classic that tells a complete story and stands well on its own. Instead of a sequel, it is better to have stories likeStranger Thingsand theupcomingStar Wars: Skeleton Crewthat are inspired byThe Goonieswhile telling a new story.
