Warning! This article contains spoilers for Agatha All Along episode 6.
AfterAgatha All Alongepisode 6, I’m more angry than ever about the Scarlet Witch’s Multiversal killing spree. Theending ofWandaVisionset up Wanda’s villainous turn inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and I was personally excited to see how this would be handled. Although I likeDoctor Strange 2a fair amount and think Wanda was a compelling antagonist, I found there to be some aspects that could have been explored more thoroughly, namely how Wanda was corrupted by the Darkhold, thus explaining how she was suddenly okay with committing multiversal mass murder.

AfterAgatha All Alongepisode 6’s ending, however, I have found myself looking back more negatively on Scarlet Witch’s turn. While the reason for this is versed in solid storytelling based onJoe Locke’s Marvel characterof Billy Maximoff, I cannot help but be disappointed with how Wanda’s actions have been rendered completely unnecessary. Through the stories ofAgatha All Along’s cast of characters, Wanda is receiving a great deal of retroactive context, with no plot point suffering from this more than her universe-spanning killing spree inDoctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
Agatha All Along Reveals What Happened To Wanda’s Kids After WandaVision
Billy & Tommy Were Reborn
Firstly, it is worth exploring the elements ofAgatha All Alongthat recontextualize Wanda’s villain story. Three years afterWandaVision’s ending, the spin-off series is finally answering what happened to Wanda and Vision’s children: Billy and Tommy.Agatha All Alongepisode 6 took cues from Marvel Comics and told the story of William Kaplan, a young Jewish boy whose life changes forever when his body is inhabited by the soul of Billy Maximoff. It was revealed that, as Wanda’s Hex around the town of Westview was dissipating, William died in a car crash trying to return home to Eastview.
The soul of Billy Maximoff, no longer kept alive by Wanda’s Hex, thus found a new vesselin the recently-deceased William. William was revived as Billy Maximoff, unaware of his prior life as either save for one name: Tommy. After uncovering his identity as the son of Wanda, Billy resolved to travel theMCU’s Witches’ Roadin order to use the gifts promised at its end to find Tommy. Like Billy, Tommy’s soul found another vessel, but where remains to be seen.

Agatha All Along Makes Wanda’s Multiversal Killing Spree More Unnecessary
Wanda’s Villainous Story Becomes Even Darker
As I previously alluded to, I feel that these reveals inAgatha All Alongrender Wanda’s multiversal killing spree fromDoctor Strange 2completely unnecessary. That being said, I will note that these revelations do not increase my dislike of the latter, and this feeling is more rooted in a tragic irony that makes for a compelling story. Regardless, the fact that Wanda searched the multiverse and killed several people in the hopes of finding her children is made sadly unnecessary due to the fact that one of them, Billy, was in the next town over from Westview.
This adds the aforementioned level of ironic sadness to Wanda’s story. DespiteDoctor Strange 2’sendingdoing a good job of condemning Wanda’s actions, I felt a sense of sorrow watching her decline due to howWandaVisionand the previous MCU stories had made me care for her.Agatha All Alonghas now revealed to me that Wanda did not even need to travel the multiverse committing these acts to find her children, and could have instead found half of what she desired in a neighboring town.

Why Couldn’t Wanda Find Billy Or Tommy After WandaVision?
Agatha All Along Somewhat Explains This
As I mentioned previously,Agatha All Alonghas recontextualizedDoctor Strange 2in this way, though with a story that makes sense. The primary way the former did this was by exploring why Wanda could not find Billy and Tommy on Earth-616, subsequently resulting in her seeking out America Chavez and traveling the multiverse. At least where Billy is concerned,Agatha All Alongaddresses this potential plot hole via the revelations about the sigil that has been placed on him since the series premiere.
AnAgatha All Alongepisode 6 Easter eggsaw William Kaplan encounter Lilia Calderu at his Bar Mitzvah. Here, Lilia’s powers of divination reveal to her that William will eventually become Billy Maximoff, resulting in her placing the sigil on him to protect him from the ramifications of being the Scarlet Witch’s son. As Agatha explained in episode 4, even the witch who placed the sigil will not remember doing so, explaining why Lilia - as well as every other witch in the world - could not sense Billy’s powers.

Herein lies the explanation for why Wanda could not sense Billy afterWandaVision. The sigil was preventing this…
Once the sigil breaks inAgatha All Alongepisode 6, the titular character explains that every witch with a heartbeat will be able to sense Billy now. Herein lies the explanation for why Wanda could not sense Billy afterWandaVision. The sigil was preventing this, resulting in her multiversal rampage. Where Tommy Maximoff is inAgatha All Along, however, the answer is somewhat less clear, though I have a theory.

Where Is Scarlet Witch’s Other Son, Tommy Maximoff?
Agatha All Along has confirmed the return of Billy Maximoff, but the Scarlet Witch’s other son, speedster Tommy, is yet to return to the MCU.
In the comics, Tommy is reborn as Tommy Shepherd, a troubled youth. Tommy’s superspeed powers eventually manifest and he destroys a school, leading to him being contained in a high-security facility that dampens his powers. If it is revealed that the MCU’s Tommy Maximoff had a similar fate, this could explain why Wanda could not sense him either. Regardless of whether this is true,Agatha All Along’s reveals make Wanda’sDoctor Strange 2journey more unnecessary and, as a result, more tragic in retrospect.
