Summary

After some recent developments, I think theMarvel Cinematic Universehas an interesting angle planned forThe Fantastic Four: First Steps' team suits. I am a fan of the Fantastic Four, be it in the comics, animation, movies, games, or anything else. As such, I could not be more excited about2025’s Fantastic Four reboot. I think Marvel Studios has assembled a very talentedcast forThe Fantastic Four: First Steps, and the team should play a major role in multiple MCU releases. After all,the Fantastic Four are confirmed to appear in the next two Avengers movies.

I’m happy that we are finally getting the Fantastic Four in the MCU, withMarvel Studios having the chance to bring the definitive version of the team to live-action. I was also excited to seeChris Evans return as Johnny Storm inDeadpool & Wolverine, even though he was not exactly the same as in the 2000s Fantastic Four movies. Evans' Human Torch return also brought along a new Fantastic Four costume. On that topic, I’m convinced that, after a few official updates,The Fantastic Four: First Stepsis hiding an interesting team suit element in plain sight.

Ryan Reynolds' Deadpool in Deadpool & Wolverine and Chris Evans' Johnny Storm in Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer

I’m Furious With Deadpool & Wolverine For How It Treated Chris Evans' Johnny Storm & His Ending

Chris Evans returned to the MCU as Johnny Storm — not Captain America — in Deadpool & Wolverine, and though it was a fun role, I disliked key choices.

Why I Think Each Fantastic Four Member Will Have A Different Suit

Marvel Might Have Already Revealed It

After months of speculation,Marvel officially revealed the cast for the Fantastic Four rebootwith concept art from the movie for Valentine’s Day.Pedro Pascal plays Reed Richards, Vanessa Kirby gives life to Sue Storm, Joseph Quinn is Johnny Storm, and Ebon Moss-Bachrach plays Ben Grimm. I findThe Fantastic Four: First Steps' cast very exciting, with every actor more or less perfect for their respective role within the team. What I loved about the reveal was that Marvel chose to offer a look at the actors as their characters, with Reed Richards and Sue Storm in Fantastic Four suits.

This is where things start to become interesting.Reed and Sue’s Fantastic Four costumes are mostly the same, but there is a key difference. Vanessa Kirby’s character sports a round-shaped white collar, while Pedro Pascal’s Reed Richards is fully blue. The officialThe Fantastic Four: First Stepsconcept art also included Johnny Storm and Ben Grimm, with both wearing jackets that hid the upper half of their costumes. However, the Thing’s look is interesting, as the hero had a giant white stripe in the middle of his Fantastic Four jacket, which connects to a recent reveal.

The new Fantastic Four suit features way more white, with stripes on the arms that lead to the suit’s collar.

At D23 2024: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, the Fantastic Four reboot cast appeared in a video, which revealed anew MCU Fantastic Four suit. Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm was seen wearing a Fantastic Four suit that looked very different from the ones Reed and Sue had in the concept art. The new Fantastic Four suit features way more white, with stripes on the arms that lead to the suit’s collar. Based on thethree different versions of the Fantastic Four costumewe’ve seen, I believe each member of the team will have a unique suit tailored to their style.

The MCU Just Put Even More Pressure On The Fantastic Four Reboot

The Fantastic Four: First Steps brings Marvel’s First Family to the MCU next year, and the pressure the movie has to succeed just got even heavier.

I Like The Latest MCU Fantastic Four Suit Reveal

The New Marvel Costume Is Different

Sure, the Fantastic Four costume that Quinn’s Johnny Storm was wearing is a departure from how the team’s suits normally look. However, I don’t think that is a bad thing. Marvel’sThe Fantastic Four: First Stepswill be the fourth live-action movie of the team to be released in theaters. As such,I’m glad that the MCU is trying to do new things for the teamwhile keeping classic aspects and an old-school feel to the project. Johnny’s new Fantastic Four suit is the perfect representation of that, harkening back to the comics.

The white and blue Fantastic Four costume comes from the John Byrne era of the team in the 1980s, though the MCU is using even more white for at least the Human Torch’s suit. I think the new MCU Fantastic Four costume that Johnny Storm wears is a great way of modernizing a classic concept, with the project as a whole being about honoring the team’s long Marvel Comics history. I also like that Marvel is experimenting with the Fantastic Four suits, giving John Krasinski’s Reed Richards and Chris Evans' Johnny Storm modern suits and the reboot cast retro costumes.

10 Best Marvel Movie Trilogies Ranked

With Deadpool & Wolverine concluding one of the best Marvel trilogies, the list includes some impressive live-action entries both in the MCU and not.

I Know How The Fantastic Four: First Steps Can Give The Team Matching Suits Later

It Has Already Been Teased

I would love to see the Future Foundation play a role in the movie and theMCU’s upcoming films. I’m a fan of the Future Foundation’s white and black suits, especially Spider-Man’s variation of the costume, and the team’s inclusioncould lead to Tom Holland’s Peter Parker spending some time with the Fantastic Fourin the MCU. Different from the comics, I don’t think Joseph Quinn’s Johnny Storm necessarily has to die, so Marvel can use the Future Foundation, as the organization’s goal of making the future a better place does not require the Human Torch’s death.

My Favorite Spider-Man Costume May Join The MCU If This Fantastic Four Easter Egg Pays Off

A new Easter egg from Marvel Studios' Fantastic Four movie has been revealed, and it makes my favorite Spider-Man costume more likely for the MCU.

The Future Foundation Is Crucial To A Multiverse Saga Movie

The Fantastic Four Have An Important MCU Future

With the Fantastic Four confirmed to appear inAvengers: DoomsdayandSecret Wars, it would make sense for the team’s MCU debut to establish the Future Foundation. In the 2015 version of the Secret Wars event from Marvel Comics, the Future Foundation built the ships that saved several heroes and other characterswhen an incursion threatened to end all life on Earth-616. The team could play the same role in the Avengers films, with the Future Foundation life rafts taking characters outside the MCU’s main universe and later landing safely on Battleworld.

I’m excited for the Fantastic Four to have a major presence in the MCU going forward. While I enjoyed the team’s movies from the 2000s,The Fantastic Four: First Stepsand future projects have the potential to bring the most comic book-accurate versions of the heroes yet. WithRobert Downey Jr.’s Doctor Doom taking Kang the Conqueror’s placeas the main villain of the Multiverse Saga, I can’t wait to see the Fantastic Four help the Avengers and other heroes take him down. Based onThe Fantastic Four First Stepsupdates, I’ll be waiting for the Future Foundation’s MCU debut.
