48 years afterStar Wars(later retitledA New Hope) was released, I’m convincedAndorseason 2 could be showing a planet that’s become something of a legend in the franchise. While it stands apart for its boots-on-the-ground approach and overall darker themes,Andortruly embraces the story and spirit of the originalStar Warstrilogy. Through the eyes of Rebel heroCassian Andor, we get to see the earliest days of theRebel Alliance- especially in the upcomingAndorseason 2.
Because the story ofAndorseason 2 is going to lead directly into the events ofRogue One: A Star Wars Story, the movie that leads directly intoA New Hope, it’s expected that there will be plenty of connections between all these stories. We already know from theAndorseason 2 trailerthat we get to see Yavin 4 on screen again, but that may not be the only Rebel base that’s featured in the series.

Star Wars Has Been Building Up To A Live-Action Dantooine For 48 Years
It Was First Mentioned In A New Hope
Dantooine is famously mentioned by Princess Leia Organa to Grand Moff Tarkin when he’s questioning her about the location of the Rebel base, just before he gives the order for the Death Star to destroy Alderaan. Despite being quite pivotal in this scene,Dantooine has actually never been seen on-screen in live-action before. The closest it’s come is in theKnights of the Old Republicvideo games, which laid the groundwork for what the planet actually looks like, and the animated seriesStar Wars Resistance.
It ought to be noted that Dantooine is seen from space inStar Wars Rebels, but the atmosphere is never breached.

Dantooine is characterized by grassy plains, much like those seen during a sequence on an unknown planet in theAndorseason 2 trailer. In fact, this very same planet seems to come up a few times in promotional videos forAndorseason 2, where characters such as Bix Caleen and Cassian himself are seen there. It seems as ifStar Warsis finally preparing to give us a look at Dantooine in live-action after 48 years, andAndoris the perfect place to do it.
It Would Make Perfect Sense For Dantooine To Appear In Andor Season 2
The Stories Are Seamlessly Connected
Not only would Dantooine appearing inAndorseason 2 make sense from a Rebellion origin story perspective, but also from the connections thatAndoris expected to have withStar Wars Rebels. With Mon Mothma being amain character inAndor, it’s expected that season 2 will show her escape from Coruscant after speaking out against Emperor Palpatine, following the Ghorman Massacre. Cassian himself may even be the one to help her out, but we know who transports her from there.
I Think I’ve Figured Out A Plot Twist That Makes Star Wars’ Best Show Absolutely Vital To The Entire Saga
Andor season 2 might feature a plot twist that rewrites part of canon, but also makes it one of the most important shows in the entire franchise.
Rebelsseason 3, episode 18 “Secret Cargo” sees theGhostcrew, including the likes ofGeneral Hera Syndulla, getting the senator of Chandrila to safety - andher destination is Dantooine. This is when we get to see Dantooine from space, which only seems to further tease the fact that its live-action debut wouldn’t be far behind. WithAndorseason 2 more than likely set to depict this key Mon Mothma event, the odds of this grassy world being Dantooine seem higher than ever.
