Below Deck Sailing YachtstarsDaisy Kelliher and Gary King are the true villains of the series, especially after their recent treatment of the rest of the crew in light of their dysfunctional dynamics. Gary and Daisy both got their start on the series duringBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 2, when the Chief Stew and First Officerjoined Captain Glenn Shephard’s crew. Fresh-faced, the pair got to know each other and developed a friendship with Chief Engineer Colin MacRae that carried through the early seasons. Leading the crew, Daisy handled the interior while Gary and Colin handled the exterior.

Daisy and Gary’s friendship was a constant onBelow Deck Sailing Yacht, even with drama happening in other areas of the crew that could’ve pushed them apart. While Daisy was flirty with Colin, her relationship with Gary was far more friendly, and her attention was divided fairly equally between the guys. Daisy’s time aboard Parsifal III was nearly always about her work, not about her connections to others, but things changed duringBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 4, when it became clear that Daisy and Colin’s romantic connection was growing. The pair got together, and things became difficult with Gary.

AfterBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 4, the cast took some time apart and Daisy & Colin’s relationship came to an end, which was discussed at length during the season’s reunion. Unfortunately, Gary had struggled with jealousy when his two closest friends aboard Parsifal III got together, and he took it out on Daisy when they broke things off. Getting harsh and inappropriate with her during the reunion, Daisy beganBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 5hurt by Gary, buttheir drama has eaten up a lot of screen time on the series, leaving me wondering if they’re both true villains.

Daisy & Gary Are Already Having Trouble With Their Teams

Their Management Styles Aren’t Working Out

Although Gary and Daisy are having a hard time personally, their professional lives seem to be suffering even more because of their lack of connection. AfterBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 4’s reunion, Daisy and Gary were back aboard the Parsifal III just days later, ready to start a new charter season. Collin, who leftBelow Deck Sailing Yachtafter the last season, wasn’t there to be a buffer for the pair, and Daisy took issue with how Gary had spoken to her at the reunion. Though she tried to clear the air, Gary was petulant and refused to speak.

20 Best Reality TV Shows Right Now

Reality TV is more popular than ever. With so many to choose from, here are some of the best reality TV shows to stream or watch right now.

Withthe season beginning while Gary and Daisy were on bad terms, their personal relationship was immediately impacting their professional connections and abilities. While Daisy was clear with her new stews, Danni Warren and Diana Cruz, that she wanted things to go smoothly through the season, her management style wasn’t something either stew was comfortable with. Gary, who’s been known to have authority issues when it comes to women, has been struggling on the exterior as well, especially with his only female deckhand Emma Crouch. Withboth Daisy and Gary struggling, the season has been overwhelming while getting things started.

Daisy Won’t Hear Out Danni’s Issues

She’s Not Taking Her Stew’s Issues To Heart

As for Daisy, she’s been having a hard time addressing the issues that are brought to her by her stews. Danni, who’s new to theBelow Deckfranchise, has been struggling with her day-to-day tasks as a stew. Though she has some yachting experience,Danni has made it clearthat she lacks interest in actually doing her job, as she’s been dubbed a lazy, entitled stew in the first stretch of episodes. After complaining to Daisy about her tasks, especially the cabin cleaning she has to do, she expected some shift in her responsibilities or compassion from the Chief Stew.

Rather thanhearing Danni out about reevaluating her responsibilitiesor changing up her tasks, Daisy has tried to convince the stew to simply suck it up and deal with the job she’s accepted. Danni may not be the best stew, but if Daisy wants to keep her around she’d do better to at least hear Danni out and try to work with her on figuring out a better plan for her workday. Instead, Daisy has decided to be tough with Danni, which doesn’t appear to be working well with her sensitive personality or experience level as a newly working stew.

Gary Berates Emma & Does Nothing To Help Her

He Doesn’t Care About Her Successes

On the exterior side of things,Gary has been featured less throughoutBelow Deck Sailing Yachtseason 5, but when he is on screen things aren’t typically going well. Gary, who wasaccused of sexual misconduct with aBelow Deckfranchise makeup artist between the last two seasons of the series, has been doing what he can with the amount of time he’s on camera, but his behavior toward deckhand Emma has been difficult for most viewers to watch, especially considering his alleged past behavior. Gary’s always hard on exterior team members, but this is far more stringent than ever.

Gary’s been policing Emma’s behaviorand criticizing her at every possible move. Rather than focusing on the exterior team as a whole, he’s been making sure that he pays attention to what Emma does, when she does it, and how she does it throughout the season. Despite knowing that Emma’s job as a female deckhand is pressurized as it is, he’s been making it clear that he doesn’t care to treat her with the same grace as the male deckhands. Instead,Gary’s been treating Emma worse than others, berating her on deckand refusing to help when she needs it.

Are Daisy & Gary The Villains Of The Season?

Their Reputations Are Changing

While Daisy and Gary have been doing badly this season, they haven’t officially crossed over intoBelow DeckSailing Yachtvillain territory yet. Despite knowing that there are bigger issues going on with both Gary and Daisy, seeing them behaving poorly in professional settings makes it difficult to watch them, especially after their past performances have been better. Gary could definitely be more of a villain onBelow Deck Sailing Yachtin the season to come, as could Daisy if she continues to ignore her stews.
