Summary

WithNow You See Me 3confirmed for a November 2025 release, I can’t wait to see the third installment’s magic tricks after the previous ones in the franchise. Now You See Mepremiered in 2013 and stars the likes of Mark Ruffalo and Woody Harrelson. The movie follows four magicians, known as the Four Horsemen, as they use public illusions to send a message about greed. Now You See Me’sshocking twist endingset up the rest of the franchise as Dylan Rhodes (Ruffalo) becomes part of the group after using them to get revenge for his father’s death.

Following the first film’s reception,Now You See Me 2was released in 2016 and focused on the Four Horsemen stealing a data chip. The sequel received mixed reviews despite grossing $334 million worldwide, however, I personally likedNow You See Me 2because ithad better magic tricks. After being stuck in development for eight years,Now You See Me 3was officially confirmed in 2023, promising a “reimagined” sequel byVenomdirector, Ruben Fleischer.Fleischer’s previous work in action movies proposes an exciting opportunity for more fantastical magic tricks in the third installment, which I cannot wait for.

Now You See Me cast including Jesse Eisenberg Isla Fisher and Woody Harrelson

The Now You See Me Movies’ Magic Tricks Were Fascinatingly Exaggerated

The Franchise Mixes Movie Magic With Skill

Despite being aseries of movies about magic, the magic tricks inNow You See Meare mostly exaggerated, as they would be impossible to actually pull off. For example, at the end ofNow You See Me 2, Atlas (Jesse Eisenberg) demonstrates control over the weather to a small audience on a rainy London street, dramatically pausing the droplets in midair, and even sending them back into the sky. No matter how good of a magician you are, this is simply not possible, andAtlas’s trick boils down to movie magic, however, other tricks in the movies are somewhat plausible.

Now You See Me 2’sfamous continuous shot of the Four Horsemen usingsleight-of-hand tricksto transfer a playing card (with a data chip attached) between each other, in order to avoid capture as they are being searched, is one of the most impressive scenes in the franchise. The scene is so pleasing because we, as viewers, are let in on the trick that the guards cannot see. However, the famous card scene also has an element of plausibilitybecause, although it would take a miracle to achieve without mishap, the sleight of hand tricks could be done.
