In it, Amanda Waller has, at long last, unveiled her master plan: to neutralize Earth’s heroes once and for all. Her plan is working well,but inAbsolute Power: Task Force VII#2, a huge flaw has been exposed.
Absolute Power: Task Force VII#2 is written by John Layman and drawn by Max Raynor. Amanda Waller has sent one of her upgraded Amazo units to Atlantis, to bring the city under her control. Previously, she neutralized Aquaman’s water-based powers, rendering him helpless. Tempest, his former sidekick, notes that Waller only took out Arthur–not them.
Later, as Waller’s force fights the Atlantean army, Arthur wishes to stay behind to help. Tempest convinces him otherwise, saying he will take care of the Amazo as well as rescue Jackson Hyde.

Absolute Power#1 kicked off DC’s big summer event in a grand fashion. After years of festering hatred towards superhumans, Amanda Waller took matters into her own hands. Unleashing an army of Amazo androids, Waller methodically took nearly every single metahuman in the DC Universe out, ranging from heavy hitters like Superman tomagic users like John Constantine.Waller also struck a deal with the United Planets to keep the Green Lantern Corps from interfering in Earth’s affairs. For all intents and purposes, Waller is now running the show.
Tempest, the former Aqualad, pointed out that Amanda Waller was not interested in him–only Aquaman, and this might just have exposed a serious flaw in her otherwise airtight plan.

Waller tried to account for every contingency when unveiling her plans, but this was not foolproof, as seen inAbsolute Power Task Force VII#2. Waller seemingly only went for the “big guns,” like Aquaman. Why Waller did not also attack Tempest is unknown: if she could have neutralized Aquaman, then Tempest would have posed no threat either. However, she did not, and this may come back to haunt her.

The Sidekicks May Be What Stops Waller
The fact that Amanda Waller mademembers of the Justice Leagueher primary targets, and not their sidekicks, is quite odd given her recent history with the Titans. With theJustice Leagueon hiatus, the Titans, a team of former sidekicks, ascend to become Earth’s primary superhero team. During this time, Waller doggedly pursued them, particularly during the events ofBeast World.Yet now, the Titans, or at least some of them, are not on her radar. I cannot believe that after all of her experiences with Earth’s heroes, Amanda Waller still underestimates their sidekicks.
