There are multiple ways to get Sewaddle inPokémon GO, one of which can make it far easier to find a Shiny and even obtain its evolutions, Swadloon and Leavanny. The Sewing Pokémon is a Bug/Grass-type hybrid that utilizes leaves stuck together to make clothes for itself, making it an adorably stylish addition to any Trainer’s Pokédex. First introduced in Generation 5’sBlack and Whitegames, Sewaddle has been around inPokémon GOfor over four years, since the Unova Week event.
However, Sewaddle can be a fairlyrare Pokémon spawndepending on where you’re looking for it. This can become troublesome if you want to obtain enough Candy to unlock its two evolution stages. However, it’s well worth he effort to catch and evolve a Sewaddle, as you’ll be able to add Swadloon and Leavanny to your Pokédex and hopefully get a rare Shiny variant in the process.

How To Get Sewaddle In Pokemon GO & Can It Be Shiny?
Map Spawns, Raids & Community Days
The main ways to get Sewaddle inPokémon GO, including its Shiny version, are finding it spawning on the map (mostlyduring Rainy or Sunny weather),defeating it in a Raid Battle, or looking for it during featured events like theOctober 2024 Community Day, where it will have heavily boosted wild spawns.
While Sewaddle spawns even in favorable weather conditions can still be very rare, Community Days will have Sewaddle spawn more frequently for a few hours with a Shiny encounter rate of 1 in 25. This is much higher than the game’s base rate of 1 in 500 among thevarious Shiny odds inPokémon GOfor different types of encounters.

Best Team For The Psychic Cup In Pokémon GO (Max Out Season)
The Psychic Cup is the perfect time for your Psychic-type Pokémon to shine in Pokémon GO, but you’ll need the best team if you want to win.
TheCommunity Day for Sewaddle on August 03, 2025, will feature plenty of wild Sewaddle spawns from2 PM to 5 PMlocal time. If it’s evolved by 10PM that day, Trainers will get a Leavanny with an alternative Fast Attack: Shadow Claw. Base form Pokémon can also be found among 1-Star Raid bosses. It hasn’t appeared in theSeptember Raid Boss schedule forPokémon GO, but keep an eye out for future events to see if it will make an appearance.

Similar base form Pokémon can also be hatched in Eggs. Sewaddle isn’t available in the current Egg charts, but that could change in future updates.
How To Evolve Sewaddle In Pokémon GO
Farm Lots Of Candy To Complete This Evolution Process
You’ll need to use25 Sewaddle Candy to evolve Sewaddle into Swadloon, and then a further100 Sewaddle Candy to evolve Swadloon into Leavanny. This means you’ll need a total of 125 Sewaddle Candy to complete this entire evolution process, similar to whenevolving Hatennain Pokémon GO.
To get more Candy, I alwaysuse a Pinap Berrywith each Pokémon I encounter to double the amount obtained with each catch. To add more over time, have Swadloon walk with you as your Buddy Pokémon to earn some Candy per kilometer. If you end up catching multiple Sewaddle that you don’t want, you can transfer them for additional Candy as well. If you have any Rare Candy spare, they can also be exchanged for Sewaddle Candy, although I’d recommend saving them for Legendary Pokémon.

In the meantime, keep a look out during Rainy and Sunny weather days or participate in the upcoming October 2024 Community Day in Pokémon GO, and you’ll hopefully be able to find a Shiny Sewaddle and evolve it into Swadloon and Leavanny.
