Artifacts are a new type of Great Work to collect inSid Meier’s Civilization 7, but the game doesn’t make it easy to figure out where to get them. Unlike other collectibles, such as Codices, the game’s Civlopedia doesn’t have an entry for Artifacts that handily explains their purpose or how to find them. As Artifacts play a major role in earning a cultural victory inCiv 7, you will likely want to know where to look for them and how to use them properly.

LikeCiv 7’s other victory conditions,Artifacts aren’t available untilCiv 7’s Modern Age. This is because they represent relics from the Exploration and Antiquity Age civilizations of the past. You will need to have the right Civic, a specific unit, and the right buildings to find and house Artifacts. You will also usually need to locate an artifact on the map, though there are some exceptions. This makes them a bit harder to earn than something like Codices that can be earned through developing specific Technology.
