Like most RPGs,Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2has quests divided into main quests and side quests. “Taking French Leave” is the main quest that comes after “Via Argentum,” and it’s when you finally get the help you need to initiate your rescue mission to get Hans out of his captivity at Maleshov. Naturally, rescuing Hans isn’t an easy task with guards crawling around Maleshov and watching for intruders.

“Taking French Leave” is basicallysplit into three sections. You need to access Maleshov through the passage Rosa tells you about, find Hans, and then escort Hans to safety. With this quest, you don’t have a lot of options as to how you go about completing these tasks, but there are methods that make it easier to complete, as well as a side quest that’s easy to miss.

How To Get Into Maleshov

Following Rosa’s Instructions

Your path starts off by heading south of Kuttenberg to find the stable owner who’s meant to prepare horses for your escape. From here, follow the path back to the main road where there’s a shrine, then go right. Take a left into the woods when you see an area by the road that’s bare, and it leads you straight to the ruins of the chapel. Look through the arch to see the next area of ruins you need to reach.

You might find wolves in this area, so be careful to avoid them or be ready to fight them.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Henry speaking to Marika from Miri Fajta side quest

At this set of ruins, you find a stone cross on the ground pointing north. Go north until you find another stone cross that adjusts your path to the northeast. This takes you to a tree that has a stone with a cross at its base, and you dig in front of it to reveal the tunnel’s entrance. Since you have to dig,you need a spade in your inventorybefore you head out to complete this quest.

You don’t actually need to follow these specific directions, and you can instead head right to the path if you know where it is onKingdom Come Deliverance 2’s map. But once you arrive and dig up the entrance, head down, pull out your torch, and travel through the tunnels until you reach abrick wall that acts like a dead end. Interact with the wall, and you get a cutscene of Henry pulling out the bricks to let himself in. Luckily, it skips most of the actual work.

How To Find Hans

Infiltrate The Tower

When you pop out of the tunnel and wine cellar, you get your first look at Maleshov. There’s one large tower nearby, and the top of that tower is where Hans is imprisoned. You also find a guard on your way out of the cellar, so knock him out or kill him andtake his keys to avoid lock picking. Next, go outside and climb the wooden stairs that take you into the tower. Use your stolen keys to unlock the door or lock pick it open.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 - Miri Fajta Quest Guide

Miri Fajta is a side quest in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 where you can rescue someone’s daughter, but your actions can lead to multiple outcomes.

There’s a set of stairs that lead up, but you need to head into the little kitchen instead and wait for the guards on the next floor to come down and leave the tower. Then, go up to the next floor, and you’ll spot an open door with a woman facing a fireplace inside. Sneak into her room and knock her out or kill her.Take her keysand the keys on her podium.

If youwant to romance Rosa, you can find the book she wants you to get on the right side of the window that’s on the other side of the bed. Then, grab the sword in the chestat the foot of the bed and the sword in a cabinet in the next room. With that done, go upstairs to the top floor of the tower and use your keys to unlock the door on the left. Once you enter, a cutscene plays.

How To Get Hans To Safety

Secure A Route

Hans doesn’t want to take the tunnels you used to enter the location to get out, so you have toclear a path to the stables— located in the northern section of Maleshov — and signal him and Brabant when it’s safe that they can come down from the tower. You have a few ways to go about this task. Here, you want to tell them to stay behind in the tower while you scout out the path. This lets you act without worrying about them attracting a guard’s attention, which makes everything significantly easier in my experience.

First, you’re able to sneak through and distract the guards with pebbles, then reach the stables and pull out your torch to signal Hans. If you choose this method, you need to go back and distract guards so that Hans and Brabant can pass through unseen as well. The problem is that if you don’t knock out any guards and one spots Hans or Brabant, youend up having to fight the majority of themand making sure that Hans and Brabant don’t die.

10 Best Games To Play After Beating Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a one-of-a-kind game in many ways, but fortunately for those who want more, there are a few that scratch the same itch.

Alternatively, you can go through and knock out or kill all the guards that are around the tower and stables. This basically guarantees that Hans has a clear path to the stables without you needing to stay near him and distract the guards with rocks. The problem is that ittakes time to sneak behind all the guardsand handle them, and you’ll likely end up fighting a number of them. So, each option has pros and cons. However, if Hans gets the attention of a guard, you have to fight most of them anyway.

Once you get Hans to the stables, yourlast objective is to open the gateso that you can all ride out of Maleshov. This leads into a cutscene, then you follow Hans and Brabant for a bit on your horse until another cutscene plays. Naturally, you don’t get a moment to rest, and you’re sent on the next main quest from that point. The nice part is that the next quest sends you back to Kuttenberg City, meaning you can make a quick stop with Rosa if you got her book.

This completes “Taking French Leave,” letting you keep proceeding through the main quests to reach the, hopefully, best ending of the game. Of course, the ending you get depends on your decisions throughout the game. When it comes to “Taking French Leave,” at least, you don’t need to worry about how you complete it impacting your ending inKingdom Come: Deliverance 2.
