Summary
AHarry Potterspinoff series would need a new protagonist to stand in Harry’s place, and HBO already has the perfect character for the job. The company has aHarry PotterTV remake in the works, but it has been revealed thatthere is a possibility for multiple series to go into production in the near future. Given the expansiveness of the Wizarding World, there are a variety of possibilities and a handful of characters who would be interesting in the lead. However, there is one in particular that could most effectively continue Harry’s legacy.
TheWizarding World franchisehas struggled since theHarry Pottermovies wrapped up in 2011. Spinoffs were inevitable, and Warner Bros started with theFantastic Beastsseries that followed protagonist Newt Scamander while doubling as a sort of Albus Dumbledore prequel. Unfortunately, the project crashed and burned, as waning interest led the series to end after three of the five intended movies. As a way to revitalize the franchise, Warner Bros teamed up with HBO to bring Harry back into the spotlight. He’s that character everyone knows and loves—butfuture spinoffs will have to find a compelling replacement.

Multiple Harry Potter Shows Are A Possibility According To New Report
A new report reveals that multiple shows based on Harry Potter are possible, shedding light on Warner Bros. Discovery’s high-profile adaptation.
Lily Evans Would Be The Perfect Protagonist For A Harry Potter Spinoff Series
Lily Would Fit Harry’s Shoes Best
There have been several ideas tossed around among fans forHarry Potterspinoffs, butthe fact that Harry’s character has proven himself so pivotal in the success of the franchise indicates that a similar character must again take center stage. While James Potter would be a potential candidate, especially given his status as a Marauder, he and Harry weren’t as alike as was initially implied. James was mischievous like Harry, but he was a spoiled bully as a teen. Harry was snarky and clever but inherently kind to his core—just like his mother.

Lily Evans was a bright, talented, brave, and kindHarry Pottercharacter who, like Harry, was brought up by Muggles. They come from the same mold, so it would be deeply poetic for a spinoff series to place Lily in the position of protagonistafter her son’s remade story comes to a close. This would allow for a seamless transition, which could duplicate the already beloved formula ofHarry Potter. What’s more, a Lily Evans prequel would retroactively add further context to the character who was subtly at the center of everything within Harry’s story.
Lily Is The True Hero Of Harry Potter
While characters like James Potter or Albus Dumbledore get much more attention, Lily is woefully overlooked. In truth, she is the catalyst for the entire plot ofHarry Pottersince Lily sacrificing her life for her son was what made him “The Chosen One” to begin with. It was her magical protection over Harry that caused Voldemort’s Killing Curse to backfire, and her blood in Harry’s, and then Voldemort’s, veins that allowed Harry to come back after sacrificing his own life inDeathly Hallows. In a very big way,Lily is the true hero of theHarry Potterstory.
Without Lily and her actions, the entirety ofHarry Potterfalls apart. The story’s themes revolve around motherly love, so no other character could have taken over Lily’s role in Harry’s adventure. For this reason, she’s a logical new protagonist for the series since it’s no great stretch to move her from a supporting role to center stage. What’s more, a spinoff following Lily Evans is the perfect opportunity to cover other highly requested stories within the Wizarding World franchise.

HBO’sHarry PotterTV reboot is expected to stream its first season sometime in 2026.
A Lily Evans Prequel Could Cover Several Other Highly Requested Harry Potter Stories
Lily Is Part Of The Marauders' Generation
It will be tough work for HBO to settle on an additional spinoff series, since there are several that fans have been begging for sinceHarry Pottercame to a close. The Marauders is an especially popular choice, as well as aseries covering Regulus Black’stragic turn from the Death Eaters. As luck would have it, these characters are all part of the same generation as Lily Evans, so a series following her as protagonist could easily cover James and his friends, Severus Snape and the Death Eaters of the First Wizarding War.
A series following Lily as protagonist could easily cover James and his friends, Severus Snape and the Death Eaters of the First Wizarding War.

Lily’s friendship with Snape could be featured, as well as her initial contentiousness with James Potter. We could finally see what changed between Harry’s parents, and learn how James managed to earn redemption for how he acted. It would be a fresh new story, but the discomfort of such a transition would be lessoned by Lily’s similarities with theHarry Potterseries' original protagonist. Whether HBO will take this route remains to be seen, but hopefully, the company will remember that the perfect replacement for Harry has already been made clear.
