The first trailer forGyeongseong Creatureseason 2 offers the best look yet at the returns of Han So-hee and Park Seo-joon and confirms how their characters can be back despite the 79-year-time jump.Gyeongseong Creatureseason 1’s endingwas very shocking not only because of the death and resurrection of Chae-ok but also because of the post-credits scene set in 2024. Somehow,a character who looked just like Jang Tae-sang was watching TV in the modern-day, setting the stage for a radically different season 2.
While there are plenty ofhistorical K-dramas, it is not very common for a show to start as a period piece and move to the present day midway through the story.Park Seo-joon’s characterin the post-credits scene was referred to as Ho-jae, which raised the question of whether he was really Tae-sang or a completely different person. Likewise, while Han So-hee was confirmed to play Chae-ok in season 2, it remained to be seen how she could still be around almost 80 years later.

Gyeongseong Creature 2’s Trailer Confirms Chae-ok Hasn’t Aged In 79 Years
Chae-ok Looks The Same And Still Has Her Memories
Gyeongseong Creatureseason 2’s trailer reveals that Han So-hee is indeed playing Chae-ok, and that she did not age at all between 1945 and 2024. Although the trailer does not get into detail about how Chae-ok is still alive, it all but confirms that the Najin infection she got at the end of season 1 is responsible for it.Chae-ok virtually died at the end of season 1but was saved by her mother, who transferred the infection to her daughter, likely giving her powers in the process. It can be assumed that Chae-ok managed to control her transformation.
Gyeongseong Creatureseason 2 releases on September 27 on Netflix.
Perhaps the most interesting Chae-ok reveal in the trailer is thatHan So-hee’s characterstill has her memories.Chae-ok knows who she is and remembers what happened in Gyeongseong– now Seoul – at the end of World War II. It’s unclear if Chae-ok was made a prisoner at some point, but the fact is that she recognizes whatever is happening in 2024 as being similar to what she and Tae-sang faced in 1945. Tae-sang, on the other hand, doesn’t seem to be aware of who he once was and now goes by Ho-jae.
20 Best K-Dramas Of 2024
There has been no shortage of incredible K-dramas in 2024, but some have defied expectations to become the year’s best shows in the genre.
Park Seo-joon Is Still Playing Tae-sang – But He Doesn’t Remember Who He Is
Jang Tae-sang Believes He Is Called Jang Ho-jae
The first official synopsis for Gyeongseong Creature season 2 states thatChae-ok is shocked to discover a man with a striking resemblance to Tae-sang.However, the trailer makes it clear that Ho-jae is Tae-sang – he may not just remember it. Park Seo-joon’s character narrates the first few seconds of the trailer, stating that he doesn’t“remember when, but everything faded away.” When Chae-ok asks him how he could still be alive and calls him“Master Jang,”he says that his name is Jang Ho-jae. However, at the end of the trailer, Ho-jae says that“a name has come”to him now.
Based on the trailer, it seems likeGyeongseong Creature 2will be about Chae-ok trying to reconnect with Tae-sang.

This strongly suggests that Ho-jae is Tae-sang after all but has his memory for some reason. The trailer does not reveal how Tae-sang can still be alive, but the end of season 1, part 1 heavily implied that Park Seo-joon’s character was infected with the Najin. The first half of the first season ended on a cliffhanger regarding who drank the contaminated glass of water. While a definite answer was never given,Tae-sang’s return in 2024 implies he has the monster virus. This would explain how he can still be alive and looking young.
Gyeongseong Creature 2 Will See Chae-ok Trying To Reconnect With Tae-sang
Chae-ok Remembers Who She Is, Tae-sang Doesn’t
Based on the trailer, it seems likeGyeongseong Creature 2will be about Chae-ok trying to reconnect with Tae-sang. The fact that Tae-sang believes he is a different person, Ho-ja, and likely has no memories of Chae-ok adds a fascinating twist to their relationship.Gyeongseong Creature’s lead couple will have the chance to fall in love again, which not manyK-drama couplesget to do. I predict their reunion to be very bittersweet, with Chae-ok struggling to make him believe in everything she is saying.
Choi Young-joon
Lieutenant Colonel Kato
Curiously, no other characters from season 1 are featured in the trailer. Although this makes sense considering the 79-year-old time skip, I wonder if there will be any flashbacks or sequences set in the 20th century. Those could help bridge the gap between the first and second seasons, perhaps revealing when Tae-sang’s Najin infection started. It’s also unclear why Chae-ok and Tae-sang never reunited considering she was alive this whole time. The firstGyeonseong Creatureseason 2 trailer brings a lot of answers, but it also raises many other questions.
