Guy nearly punches ‘Lobo’s lights out until the Czarnian tells Gardner there’s a way out of the bottle. Gardner agrees but takes issue with his partner’s plan, largely because it involvesGreen Lantern putting on makeup and passing himself off as a Czarnianto sneak into an armory.
Green Lantern Dresses Up Like the One DC Character He Hates Most
When the United Planets took control of the Green Lantern Corps, they reassigned almost all of the Earth Lanterns and gave them new duties. Gardner was sent on a mission to find and apprehend Lobo and spent months tracking him down. He finally caught a lucky break when he found a wrestler competing under the name ‘the Main Man’ competing in Wrestling Across the Multiverse. Gardner arrested the Czarnian he believed to be Lobo, despite the Czarnian insisting he wasn’t the person Guy was looking for. Unfortunately,by the time Green Lantern realized his mistake, he was imprisoned by Brainiac.
There are a lot of things Guy Gardner hates. Rules. Batman. But one thing he really can’t stand is Lobo. The reason Guy didn’t balk when the United Planets reassigned him was because he was given a chance to track down and arrest Lobo. The two have a history dating all the way back toJustice League International #18when the two got into a brutal fight that had to be stopped by Booster Gold of all people. Guy absolutely can’t stand Lobo, whichmakes Green Lantern’s Czarnian disguise all the more humiliating for him, but hilarious to everyone else.
Guy Gardner is Never Going to Live Down This Disguise
Guy will put up with a lot to get the job done, even if he bellyaches all the way. But this is something that’s beyond the pale even for him. Green Lantern might have been willing to go along with this but make no mistake, it was killing him inside the entire time. This entire adventure was a mess for Guy Gardner from start to finish. But out of all the humiliationsGreen Lanternsuffered along the way, none of them are funnier than his new Czarnian look.
