Gears of Warfans excited to return to the battle with the upcoming prequelE-Daycan look forward to shooting hordes of enemies with some familiar voices. When developer The Coalition announced that the next major entry in the popular third-person shooter series would take players back to the start of the war against the Locust, many questioned whether the game would be a return to form.Gears 5may have had its fans but itsimplementation of open-world segmentsleft many pining for the days of linear corridor shooting.
Whether or not that’s the case remains to be seen but one returning element, as confirmed byThe Coalitionon X (formerly Twitter), is thatactors John DiMaggio and Carlos Ferro are reprising their roles as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago, respectively.

SinceE-Day’s announcement, speculation has run rampant regarding voice actors asmany suspected the characters would be recast to make them sound younger. Fortunately, that’s not the case as theGears of Warcommunity celebrates DiMaggio and Ferro once again stepping back into their roles.
DiMaggio And Ferro Are Necessary For E-Day
The Spotlight Is On The Duo
While there’s still verylittle known aboutGears of War: E-Day, The Coalition has described the prequel as being an origin story about thebrotherhood between Marcus and Dom. While that aspect of the story was present inGears of War 1through3, it was never the core of the narrative so players are excited to see how the pair becomes so close. Given the emphasis on their bond, bringing back the actors who are already so familiar with the characters was definitely the right call.
That’s not to say Marcus and Dom will sound too familiar asE-Dayaims to provide a different take on the warriors.Since the game is set just after the arrival of The Locust, both Cogs are young and inexperienced, an aspect that will likely be portrayed by how they speak to one another. It’s undoubtedly an interesting idea, especially sinceGears of Waroften inserts moments of vulnerability into itsgenerally explosive campaigns.

Gears Of War: E-Day Needs To Copy Gears Tactics’ Best Idea
Gears of War: E-Day is expected to be a third-person shooter, but it should adopt a feature introduced by the series’ tactical strategy spin-off.
Sticking With The Greats
Gears of Warisn’t exactly a series known for its compelling characters butI believe DiMaggio and Ferro do great work with the scripts they’re given. Both voice actors are extremely talented so seeing them reprise their roles is great. I was already excited forE-Dayso this is just the icing on the cake.
