Anna’s Teen Rock Band Is Back
Actors Christina Vidal Mitchell and Haley Hudson are alsoreturning toFreakier Fridayto play Maddie and Peg, the members of Anna’s band inFreaky Friday, Pink Slip. This group was responsible for the iconic Battle of the Bands scene in which Anna, who was actually her mother, Tess, trapped in Anna’s body, played guitar as the group covered “Take Me Away” by Lash. This was an easy highlight ofFreaky Friday, fitting with the teenage culture of 2003. If Pink Slip is making a return in the upcoming nostalgic sequel, thenFreakier Fridayis sure to include another memorable performance.
A Pink Slip Performance Could Be Even Better 21 Years Later
Freakier Friday Has Nostalgia On Its Side
Anna’s dream inFreaky Fridaywas to make it big with her band. Of course, her mom, Tess, wasn’t thrilled with this, and their differences were part of what had to be resolved before the pair could regain their bodies. Pink Slip’s big performance played a significant role in Tess changing her mind since being on stage and realizing how hard it actually was made her admit it wasn’t just “noise.” Now, over 20 years later, it looks likeAnna and Pink Slip will either still be going strong or will be reuniting, and that’s a pretty exciting prospect.
For young audiences, especially girls, watchingFreaky Fridayback in 2003, Pink Slip was about the most remarkable thing possible. Vidal Mitchell, Hudson, and Lohan were the perfect Y2K teen punk rockers, inspiring many to make being a rock star their life goal. Now, these audiences are all grown up, just like the stars. The nostalgia for this bigFreaky Fridaymoment would make a repeat performance inFreakier Fridayall the more exciting. Pink Slip’s return on stage is almost as good as those old rock star dreams becoming a reality.

How Anna’s Band Will Have Changed (& What That Means For Freakier Friday)
Pink Slip Won’t Be A Teen Band Anymore
It’s been over 20 years since audiences saw Pink Slip perform inFreakier Friday, and it will be interesting to see how much this band has changed. Whether they stayed together and became big stars or will be somehow brought back together afterFreakier Friday’s big body swap, the members will be a couple of decades older than they were in 2003. The band can no longer be full of teenage grunge, and a song containing the lyrics “Don’t wanna grow up” might not be appropriate. Still, for nostalgia’s sake, some of that old teenage punk flavor has to make it back into the sequel.
Bringing back Pink Slip would be a great way to remind Lohan’s character who she had been once upon a time.

It’s been heavily implied thatAnna will have her own daughters inFreakier Friday, and perhaps part of her conflict with them will revolve around the fact that she forgot what it was like to be an angsty teen. Bringing back Pink Slip would be a great way to remind Lohan’s character who she had been once upon a time. Perhaps this band will be what brings all the body-swapped characters back together, just as it did inFreaky Friday. It would be a perfect full-circle moment forFreakier Friday—andan awesome (if not somewhat cheesy) guitar solo wouldn’t hurt either.
