A promising tease raises hype forCheers’Ted Danson to potentially appear inFrasier. Paramount+’s reboot ofFrasierstands out from the original series in that it takes place in Boston instead of Seattle, thus making a majorCheerscrossover a real possibility for the series. However, with the exception of Frasier’s ex-wife Lilith, the2023Frasierreboothasn’t depicted Dr. Crane reuniting with his friends fromCheers, even after two full seasons in Boston. Boston is well-remembered as the setting of the iconic 11-season NBC sitcom.

Frasierseason 3has the incredible opportunity to present aCheersreunion decades in the making. The creators of theFrasierrevival showhave teased plans for how such a crossover could happen, and they can’t back out of such a huge episode now. If Frasier meets up with one or more of his old drinking buddies fromCheers, it would bring his character back to his roots and show how they grew in the years since Dr. Crane dominated the airwaves.

All The Work Put Into This Frasier/Cheers Crossover Needs To Pay Off

Writing a story in whichFrasierreunites with his friends fromCheersthat would satisfy fans is a challenging feat. However, in an interview withTV Insider, the show’sEP and co-showrunner Joe Cristalli shared his team’s plans tobring back Sam Malone inFrasierseason 3:

“We have a story that we really like with Ted Danson hopefully reprising his Sam Malone character. But it’s really just more, as soon as we can get Ted, we’ll be able to hopefully get to revisit that because it’d be fun to see. We’ve talked a lot about stories with Frasier sort of re-engaging with some of the old Cheers folks. The writers' room came up with 30 episode ideas, so there’s a bunch we’d love to do, but you run out of time with 10. So we have a bunch of ideas hopefully that we’ll get to do in Season 3.”

Based on the planning thatFrasier’s writers put into this episode,it sounds like they have an extraordinary reunion in store for the show’s audience.A crossover betweenCheersand theFrasierrebootis too big not to show fans after building up so much hype. Though Cristalli and his team would ideally present the reunion in the near future, the delays in doing so show how they need to make sure they do the story right to make it worth the wait.

Why Frasier’s Reboot Needs To Bring Back Cheers Characters Like Sam Malone

A Frasier/Cheers Reunion Would Bring Frasier’s Journey Full Circle

Cheerswas the show that introduced the world to Frasier Crane, so it’s only natural forFrasierto have the character go back to where his story began. Even afterFrasier left Boston for Seattle, the friends he made at that bar were a significant part of his life for several years. It’s surprising that Frasier hasn’t met with any of his pals from Cheers since moving back to Boston, especially since the originalFrasiershowed some of them visiting Dr. Crane in Seattle.

Since theFrasierreboot showed how much the titular character has grown in the past 20 years, it’s only fair that the series shows how the remaining characters fromCheershave also matured.

Sam and his pals had such a massive impact on Frasier’s life, so the latter should see how he influenced their lives.

Frasier Season 2’s Exciting New Romance Pays Off A Perfect Reunion From Kelsey Grammer’s Canceled TV Show

Frasier and Holly becoming a couple in Frasier season 2 makes for a perfect reunion following Kelsey Grammer’s canceled TV show, Back to You.

Now that he has adjusted to his new life in Boston, Frasier seems more than ready to reunite with Sam and all his other long-time buddies fromCheers. Considering all the time the team behindFrasierspent planning aCheersreunion, not showing this episode to audiences would be a disappointment and a missed opportunity. While a reunion could cater to nostalgicCheersfans, such a story could also provide some satisfying closure for Frasier and his friends from the classic sitcom that made him famous.
