PlayStationfans have a lot to look forward to in the near future, but as far as the coming weeks go, there’s one change that’s much more disappointing by nature. October 31st is bringing one new game — well, in a manner of speaking — with the release ofHorizon Zero Dawn Remastered. As PlayStation gives, however, it also takes away, and an impending loss is set to occur on the same date.

As shared by franchise developerMedia Moleculeon Twitter and reported byVGC,LittleBigPlanet 3and allLittleBigPlanet DLCwill be delisted from the PlayStation Store on October 31st. The announcement follows the shutdown ofLittleBigPlanet 3’s online servers earlier this year, permanently locking off a wide variety of fan-created content.

Digital Games Disappearing Is Never Fun

It’s been almost a decade since the release ofLittleBigPlanet 3, which launched a year into the PlayStation 4’s life cycle as a follow-up to acouple of hit PS3 games. Like its predecessors,LittleBigPlanet 3focuses on a puzzle-heavy platform experience. The franchise’s biggest draw is its tools for custom creations, which allowed players to share levels and more to make the game endlessly replayable.

Local co-op games are not as popular as they used to be, but there is still quite a vast collection to choose from in the Playstation store.

The server shutdown earlier in 2024 was initially announced as a technical measure before later becoming a permanent decision, leaving those who hadn’t yet had their fill of the community levels with no warning period. ThePS3 servers for all three gameswere previously shut down through a similar process in 2021 after security problems.

Our Take: What This Means For LittleBigPlanet

It’s not especially shocking thatLittleBigPlanet 3andLittleBigPlanetDLC are being removed from sale, considering a key component of the game is already gone, but the single-player experience still offers plenty of charms. Like the recentprice increase forHorizon Zero Dawn, it’s another unfortunate reminder that digital game availability can be adjusted at will.

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered: Release Date, Platforms, & Changes From The Original

Horizon Zero Dawn Remastered might not seem necessary, but it’s making some changes that could take advantage of hardware improvements.

Anyone still interested inLittleBigPlanet 3should probably prioritize buying a copy before October 31st, as there’s also a possibility that physical prices could increase after digital sales end. The whole affair is a shame, making for an inglorious potential end to a franchise that served as a majorPlayStationcalling card for a while.
