Ahsoka S1 Steelbook Beauty Shot

ThisAhsokafeaturette focuses on how Lucasfilm’s creative team, including Legacy Effects, recreated Ahsoka for her own show. It explores the ways Lucasfilm improved Ahsoka’s design, particularly her incredibly expressive montrals, which had improved massively. Even Ahsoka’s costume had been subtly redesigned, made sleeker and more dimensional to help it work better in live-action; the redesign gave Rosario Dawson more flexibility and greater range.

In the end, even Ahsoka’s co-creator Dave Filoni seems impressed. As he rightly observed,“If we execute Ahsoka correctly, she’ll look like she could stand right there.“It all did indeed come together perfectly.

Ahsoka’s Design Is One Of The Most Impressive Ones In Live-Action Star Wars

It’s so easy to forget that Ahsoka Tano was never designed with live-action in mind. Translating anyanimatedStar Warscharacter into live-actionis always going to be a challenge, and that’s especially true when aspects of the character design only work in animation. The Mandalorianseason 2 was impressive, but Lucasfilm’s creative team needed to up their game now that Ahsoka was standing front and center of her own show.Legacy’s work was absolutely inspirational.

The costume changes were subtle but important as well, because Ahsoka’s live-action performance would require more extensive fight choreography than anything Rosario Dawson has done before in the Ahsoka outfit. In the end, everything came together perfectly, creating some truly memorable action scenes. This feature - celebrating the upcoming home release ofAhsokaseason 1 - shows just how much work was put into this project.
