Now that Aunt May has also died and the people closest to him have forgotten his identity,Spider-Man 4will star a distinctly more mature version of Peter Parker. Holland confirmed thatSpider-Man 4will look decidedly different from what’s been done, stating:
“The idea is crazy. It’s a little different to anything we’ve done before, but I think the fans are gonna really respond to it.”
Asserting that the idea is “crazy” might offer a clue to what’s in store. It looks unlikely thatSpider-Man 4will be the street-level adventure that many were hoping for andmight instead take place on Doctor Doom’s Battleworld in the lead-up to the cataclysmicAvengers: Secret Wars. This would certainly fit Holland’s description given the nature of Battleworld being a cobbled-together world of pieces of universes.
